Hope all goes well! I’m sure it will, I’m just a nervous wreck and not sure why, it’s not a huge procedure or anything but …oh well.
Just wanted to stop in and say hey and let you know what’s going on with me.

Hi Tina,
I have had these, due to degenerative facet disease. The ones I had were only meant to last about 24 hours, they just wanted to know if it helped or not, they were trying to find the source of my pain. At least that was what they told me when questioned about the results of those shots, along with all of the other type available at Pain Management.
They may have shots that last longer than that, I just don't know. I hope you get some substantial relief!
This is crazy! Is this Bad Doctor Appointment Day! - Apparently I’m not the only one. I’m sorry you had such a bad appointment with a so-called Pain Specialist today as well Susan H. I’m even more determined to find a different pain doctor now.
I went to my pain doc for that block thing for my back. I had called twice this week to ENSURE that I would in fact be sedated for the procedure. (I seriously don’t like needles in my spine and it freaks me out) I was reassured both times, once from a nurse, once from a scheduler that I would in fact have sedation. Two minutes before I’m supposed to jump up on the table for them to do this, I’m told…Oh, no we don’t sedate for this procedure. - What!? - I LOST it! My mom heard me from the waiting room! I was bawling and freaking out on the doctor and staff. I’m probably really lucky they didn’t hospitalize me!!
I was disappointed, scared and most of all just pissed that this doctor was telling me, he doesn’t feel it necessary to sedate for this particular procedure because it’s all numbing medicine that he is putting in my back. Ok Doc, but you don’t have anxiety issues like I do!! Hello!? Have you or your staff heard anything I have been saying?
Anyway, I’m obviously still fairly upset about it. I had to re-schedule this one procedure twice because of this “doctor” and now he can’t even apologize for the mix up!? I demanded my co-pay refunded and I left.
Yes, SK…
I was told that it was to basically find out if a RFA would help or not. I was told that the Block would only last probably the rest of that day if it did help at all.
Oh Tina, that is just BS on your doc's side. My doc gave me sedation for this procedure. I had the choice. Your doc SHOULD have given you the choice. I'm sorry your pain appt was a bust.
Please be aware that if you get the anesthesia that you'll need someone to drive you home and the staff won't let you leave without someone to drive you.
The other thing you need to consider is that the rfa procedure might be horrifically painful for you for weeks afterwards. I had it done and was in agony for three weeks afterwards. However, I had to go back to work the next day and had to carry some heavy meal boxes, which you're not supposed to do. And some folks have the pain while others don't. And as bad as the pain was I'd have it done again, because it partially helped and our pain options are so limited.
Yes Tina! This is the very same type of HS I went through with pain management. Always disception of some type all of the time. they could never get me numb, or never gave me the chance to get numb, always the bums rush too. I don't know what I'll do in the future when the stenosis gets really bad, don't want to deal with them again. I have been through 5 different PM offices, all the same!
I know there are people who have been greatly helped there, but not me!
Hello Tina, I had this procedure and would do so again. I had pain for a couple of weeks but have been pain free in that area now for over four months. I had never heard of this before and was really nervous myself. It was worth it all. I hope this helps you in some small way. Be blessed, Sue
