Old Fashioned Bean Soup (crock pot receipe)

Just wanted to share another good crock pot receipe....its so easy!

1 lb dried navy beans

water

1 1b. meaty ham bones or ham pieces (I like neck bones)

1/2 cup chopped celery leaves

1 med onion, chopped

1 bay leaf (optional)

1 tsp salt

1/2 tsp pepper

Sort and wash beans; place beans in a large bowl. Cover with water. Place beans in a large bowl and let soak overnight.

Drain beans discarding water. Place beans in slow cooker and add 8 cups water, ham bones, celery leaves, onion, bay leaf, salt and pepper. Cover and cook on low 10-12 hrs.

This is a really good soup and freezes well.

Hugs, Tina

sounds yummy! I'm always looking for ways to add legumes into my diet :)
