Pain clinic

Pain clinic went really well although it was a bit late. I had the pressure points checked and fibro was re-diagnosed. I have a cream to try that heats up like a heatpad, some help with breakthrough pain, been referred to pain management physiotherapy and my medication plan I am on has been approved for continued use :D

Mike, I am glad it went well. What is the cream? Sounds like you have made a lot of progress on many different levels in the past couple of months. That’s wonderful. Are you still enjoying that new home?

I am loving it here still  The cream is called capsaicin xx

Thanks Mike. I just saw a video about that when I was at the doc last week. I think I will give it a try. Stay warm!

I will let you know how it goes. I will try to get it on Wednesday because the GP has to prescribe it and I need to see them to get it xx

Hi Mike, Sounds like it was a trip worth making… Is the Capsasin a prescription, or can I get it over the counter? Maybe it would help my elbows…& ankles… & hands… & arms… Oh for heavens sake I’d have to put it every were lol

Hugs & blessings

Hey there, you can not use too much of it unfortunately. It is a pharmacy only medicine so you will need to get it prescribed. Hope this helps. Mikexx

You need to see your doctor about things to get them to start helping more. Pester them until they help. If you have no oral pain relief you can buy 8/500 cocodamol over the counter xx

codine and acetaminophen for you Yankees xx

Sorry lol... it is my way of talking :P xx

Mike - well, what a nice turn of events! And how different you sound now. Like a new man.

Now dish, Mike! What is the cream called? And what is being done for the breakthrough pain? I hope you don't mind my asking - I'm curious to know so I could ask my own doctor for them.

And great, great about having your meds approved for continuation, as it's important to keep up with the momentum you've gathered in pain management. I shall also be very interested to hear about your phsyiotherapy.

All in all, it really sounded like a very beneficial day for you. Good deal!

It was a really good day for me :D. The cream is made of chilli peppers and is called capsaicin or something. As for the breakthrough pain I am allowed beupranorphine and can take double doses of lyrica (pregabalin) for a few days around the pain being really bad. We are to see how that goes and he will see me when I have finished with psychological services (the theory being if they help a lot I will need less help from pain clinic) xx

They suggest that if you find it is too hot to wean yourself on to it by using a local anaesthetic cream (EMLA) to start with and then the cream and then after a week or so try without the anaesthetic cream x
