Kas, please ask your doctor about the shortness of breath. Yes, fibro itself can and does cause it for some of us, but you need to rule out any other issues that could be causing it. When in doubt give the doctor a shout.
I was on that for quite some time. Quit taking it because I couldn't afford it - doctors were no longer being given samples from the drug reps. Anyway, yes, I had some of those side effects. I didn't even realize the night sweats was one until I got off of it and those went away. My BP started running high. When I asked doctors if it was due to any of my meds, they all said no. I talked with other Fibro peeps, who said their BP was high while they were on it. And, sure enough, when I got off of it, my BP went back down to normal. So, look out for that. Good luck!
I have had great results w/Savella!!! I do still have pain but nowhere near what it was before. Along with the Savella I take gabapentin 900mgs twice a day and Venlafaxine 225mgs in the morning. I do have pain meds as well that I have to use on my bad days. Cymbalta & Lyrica didn’t work for me. I would say that the only bad thing about Savella is the flushing and ridiculous sweating. I’m glad you found something that works for you!!!
I take Savella and I sweat a lot but never made the connection! I don’t have shortness of breath but my blood pressure is higher. I am glad about the higher BP because it used to be really low. My only issue issue is that lately it has been making me nauseous.
Hi Symiranda,
Have you spoken with your Dr. about the medication that you're on. I was on a antidepressant that is used frequently for FMS, Cymbalta. I had to go off of it for two months and put back on Prozac (which I was on for 20 years). Cymbalta was a good choice because on Prozac wasn't doing it for me any longer. My insurance wouldn't cover it for the first 6 months I was on it, so my NP was kind enough to give me samples. Once Cymbalta went generic, for the first two months, it still wasn't covered. Since it had gone generic the dr.s offices were no longer getting samples. So back on the Prozac until the insurance was straightened out. Within a few days I started getting so nauseated I was beginning to worried if I had cancer. I lost weight, which was fine, but that wasn't the way to do it. My NP had no idea what the problem was. Had I known, I would have happily paid for the Cymbalta myself! Once my insurance paid for the Cymbalta and I started taking it, the nausea was gone within a couple of days the nausea was gone! After that happening I started doing some research online if there was any correlation between stopping the Cymbalta and nausea. Believe it or not I found "Cymbalta Discontinuation Syndrome." The nausea, constant, was caused by ceasing the Cymbalta. I've been on it since February and haven't had one day of nausea since. It would be wonderful if the answer was as simple as that!
Hope the answer is that easy!
Hugs, Susan
