Hi Laurie, great discussion… I’m so glad you did not continue to loose, it sounds like you are at an ideal weight for you. I’m also sorry to here your father passed from colon Ca, I’m sure you know how important your colonoscopy & mammograms are.
Hugs & blessings

Me too - in a ridiculously short time too.... all of these meds are horrible to us.
It's not good and has it's own set of problems to be underweight. Don't wish for it. Wish to be at a healthy weight because wishing to lose like I do is not good. I don't have stamina, i can't lift things like 2 gallon milk jugs without doing myself in. Not to mention just like being over weight can have ppl treating you poorly you get the same crap when under weight. Ppl assume you throw ur food back up, that when u go to a doctors its WHY you are ill rather then seeing it like a symptom. I have repeatedly told some docs I eat.. but they treat me like i don't. Can't get help for this if its not treated properly and because I have the opposite problem of most everyone else it also means its harder work to find food on my budget that doesn't promote weight loss. Very frustrating.
I've gained both lost and gained weight depending on what meds I was on. For me it seems that the huge fatigue makes me crave to eat eat eat as if my body thinks if I just get energy substances in it (food) that maybe it will get more energy. No luck there - but I have found that WHAT I eat makes a difference. Small amounts of protein throughout the day help with the crazy daytime hunger and a bit with improved alertness and energy levels. It's at the end of a long work day that my good sense goes out the door and I'm extra exhausted and feel so hungry that I just eat whatever I can get my hands on till bedtime. Not good! It seems to be stress eating too. When my whole body has that all over 'restless leg syndrome' thing going on it makes me so anxious and restless I think I'm beginning to realise I've been eating more all along because of that too. Hmmmn. All one can do is to take it one day at a time and try to watch eating patterns and pain and discomfort patterns. Maybe finding healthier comfort foods is not an answer but a help? Experiment experiment experiment! If you discover anything that helps with the weight gain, please let us know. I will do the same. Cheers!
I have noticed that I have a "thing" for sweets especially chocolate more so recently with my fibro dx. I am not sure if I just want to eat those sweets or if there is something nutritional going on. I did read that chocolate in one's system mimics sertonin and that eating the chocolate causes the high that one would get from just having serotinin in their system. Or something like that. Anyone else have any info on any of that?
Karen
Hi Karen - I am the same lately. Been craving sweets all the time now. Yesterday along with my other groceries, I bought peanut butter cookies and within one day they were gone! LOL However, I don't eat enough sweets to put weight on. I am 121 pounds and this is perfect for me. I'm rather tall too. I am just waiting for the day when I start 'shrinking' like the elderly people do. Getting old is NOT for the faint hearted! LOL Laurie
My weight seems to have gone up as I’ve added more meds. Thankfully I think we’re almost done adding meds
Hi Dhanni - am sorry you are having a rough time. I think that all of us here cope with stress in different ways. And Having Fibro, for me, is at the top of my list for stress! I had mentioned yesterday (I don't know if you read it), that I have had Fibro for about 30 years, but now that it's getting worse, I do crave sweets. I have read a few emails here, where some people do mention a craving for sweet things. I am wondering if part of it might be Fibro related, among the stress we feel as well It' an interesting thing to think about. I really sympathize with you in having restless leg syndrome. I don't get it that often, but I did get it two nights in a row a few days ago. It's a horrible feeling, isn't it?? I just can't lay still. I love to read books, and I thought by reading a few pages would help me slow down my legs a little bit, Well, it didn't work!! LOL Sometimes my restless legs will go on for a little while, and I have had it last a long time too. If I have had a bad day with the fibro plus my leg problems, than it REALLY makes me tired and frustrated. Dhanni - I have the tendency to eat comfort food too. But, It looks like you are discovering now, what foods are good for your health and well-being. I really understand what you are going through when you work a full day and come home exhausted. You want something that's comforting to you to help you feel better. I think Fibro patients go through this all the time because of the pain. Food helps us to feel better - so we eat! I definitely think gearing yourself to more healthy foods would really work for you, Dhanni. I would eat healthy foods all day long, but it's too expensive for me. But I try to eat sensibly - not an easy thing to do. As you said, all we can do is take one day at a time. Love, Laurie
