I have gained 30 + pounds with my fibromyalgia. Has anyone had similar experience and been able to lose weight? When first diagnosed I was exercising and eating right but kept gaining. I’m just sick of the weight on top of everything else!
I have gained 29 pounds in the past 6 months.. Cannot seem to get it off either so if find a way that works ... PLease let me know .It does make things worse and I just keep thinking if I could loose this extra weight I would not hurt as much..
Hi Foxxy, I know many have stated the same thing, a lot of times it’s the medication, but I checked your profile and didn’t see any meds that may cause weight gain.
I started a gluten free diet and lost 7 lbs in one week, and since I am watching my sugar so far so good.
Have you had your thyroid checked ?
Weight gain & fibro can be very frustrating… But I know you are not alone !!
Hugs & blessings

Thanks Dee. That is what is more frustrating, I can’t even take the meds that normally cause the weight gain. So I know it’s not that. I was checked cc or thyroid issues in the beginning and was fine. I also had a colonoscopy recently to check for anything there and it was all clear. Also had an abdominal ct scan and everything was clear. But I get this terrible bloated belly so bad I look pregnant and nobody can find a cause?
I have been getting that for the past two years. I also had a colonoscopy that was clear and an endoscopy for my stomach.. I am going to try no gluten starting next week to see if this helps at all. Will let you know..
Thanks Lisa and Lovett its good to know I’m not alone. I’ve considered gluten free but heard its hard to do. Let me know how it goes for you. I will definitely ask my doctor about running the different thyroid tests.
how is the gluten free diet helping with pain?
Well I have been doing mostly gluten free and off some of my meds for almost two months now .. It is a struggle but I have lost 7 pounds and am going to continue to keep trying. I feel good about the weight but have to be so careful. I drink a lot of water now also.Big hugs Lisa
That’s great! I’m seeing a neurologist today for my migraines. We shall see how that goes.
I have gained weight as well. It is super frustrating because I feel so bloated at the same time. Yuck! And working out just makes me have headaches. I feel like the extra weight makes things worse as well. On top of it, I have become a mindless eater. Eating things just because I have nothing else to do. I don't want to buy new clothes either. I also have some weight gain due to medication that I take.
It just really stinks. On top of it all, it makes me really self conscious too. I think the build up of stress makes fibro WAY worse.
I am so glad someone else is having the same issue~~ I had a bypass 5 years ago, and had lost 140. I have in the last 3 months put on 30 lbs. Im sick about it, I can't exercise due to back injury, and Im always so darn exhausted. I do take thyroid meds, hydroplaquenel, with Effexor, nortriptyln, simvisatin, Levothyroxin, vicodin, tramadol as needed. I was told that the nortrip, is a big help in weight gain, any suggestions on how to loose it? Ps I also had the epidural injection today, never will I do that again! It hurt worse than any IV ever!
