In my researcher, on this site and elsewhere online i hear so many people talk about weight gain either from fibro or fibro meds. I gained 15lbs in one year b4 my diagnosis. I have always been skinny so i really enjoyed having a little meat on my bones. But since my diagnosis and i have drastically lost all of it within a 2 month period. I am taking savella and lyrica and i was wondering if anyone has experienced unwanted weight loss in dealing with FMS. It is quite depressing when everyone notices. Leaves me wonderibg if i am looking sickly. I know my apetite is not what it used to be but so much so quick is frightening.
Tamika, please go to your doctor and have him/her check this out. I've heard of fibro people being unable to eat but this does seem like an extreme and quick weight loss. I have no idea if the fibro did it to you or not but it's one of those things that really should be checked by your doctor to be sure that something else didn't cause it.
I think that Lyrica tends to put weight on people. I don't know about Savella. And I guess that different people can react differently.
Gentle hugs,
Petunia
Tamika, you should go to your doctor about this drastic weight loss. The side effects of fibro meds.....each one of them.......is weight gain so that is why most of us talk about weight gain. We are not happy to gain the weight, but we need the meds. When I started on Cymbalta I was shocked that almost overnight my weight spiked 25 pounds. Then I researched Cymbalta on the internet and it said "weight gain of 25 to 30 pounds." So, I thought about it and my conclusion was that I needed the help for my fibro from Cymbalta so I would continue with the Cymbalta.
But you are losing weight and you say "so quick" so you need to discuss this with your doctor as soon as you can.
Gentle hugs
Rachel
Thank u
Bethany, don't ever apologise for what you consider a long letter. Your letter was full of good information for Tamika to think about. It was a wonderful letter. I am sure Tamika will be pleased that you were so caring as to offer her all these options.
Bethany thanks sooo much. I did talk to my dr and he feels like it is due to stress. I am a process operator which is a physical profession that pays great…but i cant do it anymore due to fibro. Or should i say i can do it but i wont have a life. Trying to find out what my options are is stressful enough. However, i never want to eat. It started bc i was always nauseous and food made me throw up…which i hate. Or food would cramp my stomach immediately and i just wanted to avoid it. I have started drinkinf boost plus and hopes it helps. But my livelihood is at stake and i dont know what to do. Im new to fibro so im learning thru trial and error and its seems like error is dominating.
I truly appreciate ur input

No disrespect but I started reading I thought straight away lucky … Something! Lol. I had the total opposite effect and every medication I’ve tried has put on weight l
Awww bloody phone! Lol. Or I’m blaming the fibro lmao. As I was saying I always get the weight on effect and I mean a pound a day!
However this is dangerous and so is losing weight so fast too so accept my apologies please. You really do need to see a doctor immediately as you may need to stop this medication straight away also.
You will hopefully find something soon that will work for you more effectively. Good luck!
Jo
No apologies needed! Thanks
Sounds like we are in the same boat on several things. Thanks for the info
