So much for Restoril helping me to sleep

Good Morning Everyone, I really do hope you are all tucked in bed and snug as a bug sleeping away. As for me I slept for a whopping hour and a half. Started Restoril almost a week ago, but its not working just like the other meds. I really wish there was a sleeping pill that worked for me. Any suggestion what may really work? I need sleep because if not soon I may become a walking zombie... I came out to the family room so I wouldn't wake my hubby and here I sit listening to him and 3 out of 4 of our dogs snoring away lol. I also think when I don't sleep my fibro fog is even worse, does this happen to any of you. Ok I have corrected to many type o's so I better stop. Hope everyone has a good day....Gentle hugs, Robin

Good morning Robin, it’s actually just 12:10 here. I’m on Amytripline
And it used to work for me, however the 12.5 I take only works sometimes
And if I take the 25, I fall asleep but can’t get up the next morning. Problem
may that I’ve been taking it for a number of years, and as my Dr. said this
week my system is over reacting to any new drugs. If you haven’t tried
Amytripline you might want to give it a try. Hope you’re asleep by now.
gentle hugs

Thanks B2chi, I am wide awake here. I will ask my doc about Amytripline. Last month it was Lunesta, before that was Ambien and I cant think of the others. I am used to this but usually I get about 3 hours of sleep. Hope you sleep well, Hugs, Robin

Good Morning Robin, I take trazadone for sleep and it works very well. I am on 150 mg but started out I think at 50mg. My doctor kept titrating it until me found the right dosage. Yes sleep to us is very important, if I don’t get enough sleep I have an increase in pain and Fibro fog. Hugs, Leanne

Sorry that isn't helping you Robin. Insomnia is awful. I think I am also going to talk to my doctor about trying amitriptyline. I won't take sleeping meds. Amitriptyline is an antidepressant, which is supposed to be great for sleep issues with fibro and for many people, it also helps fibro pain.

I am currently having to take Atarax (a heavy-duty antihistamine... like Benadryl, but stronger), plus gabapentin at bedtime in order to sleep. The gabapentin isn't helping much, and I can't go above a baby dose without having problems, so that is not a good long-term option for me.

In December, I was put on Wellbutrin in the morning for the fibro. It doesn't seem to do much for the pain, but it does help my energy level, since it's a stimulant. The problem is... I'm still "stimulated" when I go to bed and now have even more trouble sleeping that I did before. :/

You feel even worse when you don't sleep. I hope they can find something to help you.

Sharon

Definitely! Fog is much worse from lack of sleep. I'm sorry you can't find something, is there perhaps some herbal supplement that would help? I can only repeat what works for me, 15mg melotonin, and 4mg amytriptilene. I hope you don't have to work outside of home? Try to get some rest, hugs, Charlie :)

Sharon, I keep hearing of gabapentin, what is it please? We don't want you to be to stimulated now but when you are just look for me on here lol. Hope you have a good day...Hugs,Robin

Hi Leanne, I have tried Trazadone as well, nope didn't work. My doctor is trying to find what will work on me but we give it about a month to see how it does. Usually week two I am in so much pain I have to go in for a injection in one of my trigger points so thats when we change it up again. My back is killing me today along with burning hands and feet. Hugs, Robin

Thanks Charlie, You know I did use the melotonin before I learned I had fibro, maybe I should try it again. It can't hurt. Unfortunately last March I had to quit working because of my fibro and I loved my job. I was a School crossing guard for the Sheriffs Dept for 13yrs and a trainer for the state. I sure do miss those kids, but I was calling out sick so much it wasn't fair to my partner at work. I think I will try to snooze on the couch. Hugs, Robin

Robin, gabapentin is an anti-seizure drug, but is also very commonly used for nerve pain. My doctor gave me it to see if it would help the pain in my feet or back. Unfortunately, I can only tolerate 200 mg per day before I have problems with it, but I think most people take between 900 and 1800 mg per day, so 200 doesn't do a lot. Lol. It does make me very tired, and it does help the sharp, shooting pains that I get in the top of my feet and ankles.

Often, it's a med taken 3 times daily, but I couldn't do that. It makes me way too tired. But not tired enough to out-wit the Wellbutrin. ;)

Sharon

I have problems falling asleep. When I finally do, I sleep for a very long time. I was on amytriptiline, but it didn't help me fall asleep, just made me sleep even longer. And then when I did "wake up," I would be a complete zombie for 2-3 hours after waking up. My husband likes me to go to bed with him, even though he knows I won't sleep.... So I get to lie there listening to him snore, while I am wide awake wishing it was me doing the snoring. Have you tried any over the counter stuff? Maybe Nyquil? I can't really take nyquil because it makes me sick, but I've heard it works great for sleep.

My dr just put me on Restoril today. I’m crossing my fingers it works for me!

I did try Nyquil before I was put on so many meds, now Im affraid to take it. I hate when I have to listen to my hubby snore lol. Hope you have a great night. Hugs, Robin

Oh it will, I sure hope. Let me know how it works for you. Thanks, Hugs, Robin
