Woke up with my whole body feeling swollen like crazy. Other than my badly sprained ankle, nothing seems to _look_ swollen. It feels like it's that stuff between the muscle and skin that's swollen, if that makes sense. It looks like it's going to rain, and the barometer is skyrocketing. I've noticed that seems to do this to me. Do y'all have the same thing happen?
When I get up I always think my face looks swelled. I have asked my family if they can see the swelling but they always say no. I know it is swelled I see and feel it along with my feet and hands. The swelling will go away for me in a few hours but I hate the way I look and feel.
no new meds here. I've got an appointment with some new dude in a couple of days. I'm honestly thinking there's a good chance I've got RA going on along with the fibro. The hydrocodone (which I take only when the pain is at its absolute worst, or if I have to go to the city for a doc appointment etc, to help me get through) helps more than it supposedly should if I had just fibro. They tested me for RA once when I was originally diagnosed with fibro, and said the blood tests were neg, so I don't have it, and blew it off entirely from there. I spoke with a rheumy on the phone today who made it very clear that just because the test came out neg does _not_ mean I don't have that going on too. Apparently the test is only 20-30% reliable with folks who've just started suffering from it or have it only mildly, and still only 80% reliable for those who've had it a while and/or for whom it's severe.
The lady said that the next step for me is to have it re-tested, since it was 2 years ago or so since I was first tested, and if it still comes up neg, I need an MRI. Sooo... that's on the list of things I've got written down to cover with this new dude on the 23rd... I sure hope he's cooperative and compassionate and helpful! Fingers crossed, big time!
LOL! Oh, my goodness! I’m not laughing at you…I’m laughing at me. I’ve been wanting to post the same question here several times but thought ‘surely’ nobody else will have this feeling. I have swelling in my left ankle but that’s to be expected since I’ve had surgery on my achilles’ tendon.
The other swelling I have is in my hands and face. Not my whole face though. It’s in the same area as an oxygen mask would cover. My hubby says he can’t notice it really but I can feel it strongly on the inside of my face. So hard to explain. LOL…I’ve mentioned it to a couple of docs and they just kind of sit there and look at me. Maybe next time I’ll ask my rheumy about it. Thanks for asking this group!!! xoxoxo
Blessings,
Bevie
i cant say i wake up feeling swollen but i do wake up wondering if its not 2 bones instead of one in some places because it feels alot like someones trying to pry them apart but feel better
I’m sorry you go through this too. Glad it’s not just me at the same time. Sometimes I wonder about this ol’ bag o’ bones of mine!
