Are swollen finger joints a symptom of fibro? I’m new to the site and the diagnosis . I’m having a hard time knowing what is being caused by the fibro and what’s not.
Thanks!

Hi Crysta and welcome! Boy, fibro can be really tricky. It is always a good idea to make your doctor aware of issues / concerns / new things. I do get swollen joints, especially in my upper extremeties, mostly my wrists and elbows but sometimes my fingers. It comes and goes and is really painful. Sometimes I have noticed that soaking in epson salt bath will help with the swelling (sometimes it doesn't). I have found that over-the-counter topical pain patches (such as Salon Pas) will sometimes help with the wrist pain, but not the elbows. The thing with Fibro is you just have to keep trying things and see what works for you. I was diagnosed in 1998 and it has changed for me over the years. The most important thing I learned so far is to keep my stress as low as I can, try to get good sleep, and keep moving (even a little). I also practice mindfulness techniques such as deep breathing and imagery. Anyway, I look forward to seeing you on the site and please keep us updated on how you are doing. Hugs.
Thanks. It really helps to hear other people’s experiences. I have special needs children, so stress is a chronic issue for me. I haven’t figured out how to change that yet, but I’m still trying.
Hi Crysta It is hard to know some times what is causing what so as Aburnm said it is always good to discuss with your doctor. I have osteoarthritis along with bone spurs on the joints of my fingers . the pain and swelling go with that .Perhaps fibro may contribute as well. I like to keep as hydrated as possible, eat whole fresh foods and do meditative relaxation techniques with that sort of music as well. I try my best to keep my thoughts and attitude as possible and enjoy chatting with good friends such as the ones I met on this site. All the best

I am having problems with this currently as well and have also developed nodules on a few finger joints. I was first diagnosed with Psoriatic Arthritis in 2011 then fibro was added in 2014. From what I have been told, it is pretty common for fibro to go along inflammatory arthritis. My mom has osteoarthritis so some of what I am experiencing with the nodules could also be coming for the that as well. Who knows! I have said the same thing myself, it certainly is hard to know where symptoms are coming from. Good luck with the fingers
I’m experiencing same too and pain on level 20. Praying for us all relief
