Symptoms

I just was wondering if some of the issues I have been experiencing are part of Fibro........I have an aching in my jaw like I have been gritting my teeth or something and it is sore to the touch sometimes, also sometimes when I drink something i get a pain in what I call my glands (right below your ears in your neck)........like when ya eat something really sour.....hurts really bad kinda locks up. Also I have noticed my fingers and toes being swollen alot ....really bad when I wake up in the morning. Does anyone else also have these symptoms/issues?

Hi M&M, I hope these links help. You may want to see your Dr, if you are not soon scheduled.

I have also come to realize that I clench my teeth due to pain, it has caused me cracked teeth, worn out dentures, and a very sore jaw and head.

I hope you can get some answers and some relief!

Hi M&M,

Welcome to our site. I hope you find it helpful. It has a lot of info packed in it, plus a lot of knowledgeable people.

Yes, I get the jaw pain. Have you been to a dentist and told him about it? It sounds like it could be TMJ, though I'm no medical expert.

I haven't experienced gland problems while drinking. That's definitely something I'd talk to my doctor about.

Do your fingers and toes look like sausages when they swell up? Do you or anyone else in your family have psoriasis? This is just a wild guess but sometimes swollen fingers and toes could be symptoms of psoriatic arthritis. My fingers FEEL swollen when I wake up but they aren't. I know that's a fibro thing. I'm not sure if actual swelling is or isn't related to fibro.

Not the greatest of help. Let's see what others have to say...

Yes M&M i have all of this it hurt p.s. had a dr once tell me that i could not wake up swollen! well I do!! and i am not the only one. The pain in my jaw and ear gets so bad sometimes that i have to lay down and put the heat pad on it to get any releif at all my new dr has said it is caused by my MF. good luck and gentle hugs hope u feel better , Pebbles

It sounds like you may have TMJ. I have had it since I was a teenager...and have read that a lot of fibro patients have tmj.

Hi M&M - I am pretty sure it night be TMJ. I got it about 5 years after I was diagnosed with Fibro. Please get it checked! TMJ can wear down your teeth and cause infections as well. I had really nice teeth until about 4 years ago. I always wore a bite splint - but I was grinding my teeth during the day and very often wasn't aware of it unless it started to hurt. I also suffered form ear pain to and jaw pain as well. The result is ,that two years ago I had to have the teeth removed. It was devastating! My teeth were cracked and worn down form the grinding. I now have beautiful teeth again - but it was quite an experience to lose all of them. Laurie
