Thanksgiving was great, today, not so much

I definitely overdid it!! Cooked and hosted 30 people. Today I can hardly move! Luckily my mom volunteered to come back and help with dishes! Yay!! My back is the worst, which normally doesn’t bother me to bad. Feels like I pulled all the muscles. Well, resting today!

i am right with you. we had 40 on my moms side and close to that on my dads. chasing after my 2 nephews so they wouldnt get hurt i think is part of what did me in. they r 4 and 6 and finally i just told them if u dont stop running i will spank you. i could probably count on one hand how many times i have had to follow through on that but they both knew if it came down to Auny stephy would spank. we had a huge table with banquet type dishes the big one with the candel under them and pipping hot water and i didnt want them to get burnt by either. thankfully they did stop running and playing by that table and no one was injured.

so after being with my moms family i drove to my aunts on my dads house so see all of them i spent a few hours there and then like the insane person i am went to walmart at 8pm. NEVER again. yes i got a few great deals but i would rather save the stress and long lines and just pay more.

i am so sore and tired its just not even funny. it took a long time to get to sleep with all the pain but sleep did finally come.

i hope you r feeling better tomorrow that a days rest will help many hugs to you for all you did. i hope u at least got to enjoy yourself yesterday

Thanks! I did enjoy yesterday a lot. Last year right before Thanksgiving we lost 3 family members in 5 days … So we needed a good year to replace some of those memories. And it was awesome. My husband and I decided to invite everyone to our house so we had family from both sides here. Luckily everything went well. 2 Turkeys, a ham, 2 kinds of mashed potatoes and my moms famous vegetables… It was a great day. Spent it with my mom and sister cooking all day, it was so nice. Today I’m taking everything slow and trying not to push it. Now that my dishes are done I think the rest of the day should be easy. Wishing my vacation wasn’t over on Monday.

Leslie, Wow 30 people !!! My back hurts thinking about that , it’s crazy how when we use our muscles they hurt like crazy.
I’m sorry about your loss last year, sounds like you did make this year so special !!!
I hope you can take it easy and rest over the weekend !!!

Hugs & blessings

Yes, you certainly need some crash time now! Take it easy and just rest if you can! Hopefully someone else will start taking their turn with this!

I am sure you loved doing it, but oh the recovery can be long!

Wishing you well, and thanks for posting,

SK

OMG, you went hru Txgiving and then went out to Walmart that night????? Girl, you are craaaaazy!!! I wish you would have asked me and I could have told you how bad it was on Black Friday, let alone Gray Thursday. Eeyore, after reading all of that, it's no wonder your migraine is piping up again. I can see red flag stressors in 3-4 places in your tale. I'm starting to think the best way for you to keep the darned migraines away is to re-read your messages at the time that you got the migraine and identify the stressors in the messages, then write them a little book that you keep near you and read them from the book and avoid them as much as you can. I know, it stinks to have to cut back on some activities or events but in your case, I'm thinking it might really improve your health.

Anyway, I'm still glad you had a good time eating and seeing all of your family. Friends and family are everything and should be treated that way.

You know, I'm glad you were able to come up with some new traditions to help with the loss of your family members. And man, it sounded nice to have all of the family there! As did the cooking with your mom and sis. Cooking is so therapeutic. So soothing and yet creative. Must be great to do it with your mom and sis.

And lastly, good for you for pacing yourself after such an energetic day! Pacing is everything for us.

Be well,

Petunia
