Urinary Tract Infections

Pre diagnosis of Fibro, I developed what I thought was a UTI and mu Urine sample was normal but the doctor I saw put me on an antibiotic and the med. they use for the pain and it seemed to clear up right away.

Several months ago, I had another UTI and this time there was bacteria and I was put on an antibiotic and pain med again. Again, it went away fairly quickly.

This past weekend, when there are no services but the ER, I developed what I thought was a UTI. And, again my sample was normal. I still have some of the symptoms but they are gradually going away.

Along with the symptoms, I became exhausted way beyond the level I have been experiencing. That is going away slowly as well.

Does anyone have any insights or tips for me? I would appreciate any feedback. Thank You!

Hello Fourlabs,

So sorry to hear you are experiencing repeated UTI's. I know they can bring you down very quickly, with a variety of debilitating symptoms, and are not always detected straight away. I know this from caring for old ladies, which I used to do.

Anyway, I suspect you need to go back to your Doc and discuss why this is happening. Good luck

Take care, Anne

Thanks AnneV. You were the only who replied to my post. I don't even know if I posted it in the right spot. The suspected UTI this time was not there. I had a friend who emailed me some research she had done and one of the things she mentioned was a condition found in those with Chronic pain syndromes, Fibromyalgia and those with Auto-Immune issues called Interstitial Cystitis, (IC). I found a Mayo Clinic website and pretty much everything fits. If I do indeed have IC, it mimics a UTI and nothing is seen in the urine sample. It is actually a bladder issue. I emailed my Primary Doc and she is going to refer me to a Urologist. It will be interesting to see if this is what it truly is.

In the meantime, there are things I can do to help alleviate the symptoms. One is to cut down or eliminate the things that irritate the bladder in people with IC. They are: Cola, Caffeine, Chocolate and Vitamin C. Of course, Chocolate is in that list as that is the go to baddie for every doc it seems-LOL!!! Seriously, I have been working on cutting out Vitamin C as I am Diabetic and I really don't eat much chocolate but I will NOT give up my one cup of coffee in the morning. I don't drink Cola but if I need to as a last resort for IBS issues, it will be decaffeinated, which is fine. Because of the health issues, I had been taking 1000 mg., of Vit. C everyday and I will modify that. I also take Echinicea in an effort to boost my immune system and the article mentioned that some natural supplements can irritate the bladder as well. There was no supplement mentioned specifically, so today, I will be researching that.

Thank you again for the reply. If the Fibro Fog isn't too bad, I will keep you posted.
