I get severe sharp stabbing pains in both of my ears, have told every doctor I have seen all they do is look in my ears and say there is no infection. The pain gets so intense yet no one seems to know what it’s caused from. My eyesight has also got really bad, I now get night blindness and can’t see a thing in the dark. My eyes will go fuzzy, get black dots, and my peripheral vision is not wonderful. I have been to eye specialists and they told me my optical nerves are enlarged and sent me for further tests. I also have balance problems I can be standing still or walking when I suddenly lose balance for a few seconds, which has caused a few bruises from landing into cupboards or walls. Also suffer from very bad headaches. Just wondering of any one else has had similar experiences
Have you seen a neurologist ? I was having balance and headaches and my rheumy sent me to one and we did some med changes and they are not as bad. Some meds will have these side effects until they are in your system good.
Kate - I have the ear pain as well. Sometimes it is like an ice pick. My allergist says it is referred pain from something else - that is why is does show up as an ear infection, etc. Please be sure you do keep your doctors informed of this even if they brush it off. There are other autoimmune diseases that go hand and hand with Fibro that can cause these issues. I am so sorry you are having such a hard time - balance issues are just awful. I have been told that some people have thought I was drunk and I don't even drink. :-) Take care and keep us posted on what you find out.
Hi. I am familiar with the things you are talking about as i have a severe case of CFIDS( chronic fatigue immune dysfunction syndrome.) for the last 27 years/ I have had so much pain in different parts of my body, many that are unexplained. I have had vertigo, aphasia, migraines with auras, balance issues and more. It sounds to me like you have been to many doctors but if you have not gone to see a neurologist i would suggest to do that .All of the issues you describe should be relayed to the neuro and they should do a bunch of tests and hopefully can help. best of luck xoxoxoxo susie
Thanks for all your comments! These were some of my first symptoms and indications that something was not quite right. I haven’t seen a neurologist yet, they are now sending me to an ophthalmologist and are talking about doing a brain scan - one of the only tests I have not had done. The doctor and optometrist have been thinking a brain tumour I guess we will see what Tuesday brings.
Please keep us informed of what your scan shows.
