Waking up in pain?

Hey all :)

After a night filled with awkward nightmares, I've once again woken up to painfull lower extremities. It's a tingly, hot, burning sensation like almost having fallen asleep. Both lower arms and both lower legs.

I usually don't wake up like that, but I do if I wake from nightmares. It's a little sad that this happens often enough to be an event worth mentioning. I have nightmares about 2-3 times a week. I wake up like this about 1-2 times a week.

Does anyone else have this? My limbs hurt/tingle and I find myself holding completely still to not agitate the sensation. It usually only lasts a minute to a few minutes, but it's unpleasant.

to add a bit of lamenting. I've been awake for nearly 2 hours now, it's still only half past 5 and my tummy is having a wild night, so I won't be able to go to work today (we're forbidden to go to work if there's a chance of having a contagious gastric disease. Even if it's only a suspicion. SO.

no work for 1-3 days, depending on what my boss says.

I get to catch up the sleep I lost, at least ^^;

HI Dwaggie, ever get to talk to your Doc about your BP meds and nightmares?

My knees have been hot and painful, but the weather had been brutally cold with high winds and driving rains most of the day, now we're looking at snow coming up the next couple of days! The barometric pressure must be plummeting!

Spring is just around the corner, warmer weather is on the way, if we can just get to the warmer weather, we will all be much better off physically and emotionally!

Hang in there girl, and get some good rest!

I don't have nightmares but I often wake up to my lower arms and legs feeling like they have fallen asleep and it is very painful and doesn't go away for about 15 minutes when I wake up in the morning. Mine may only be caused due to not having great circulation but am not sure. I have researched and I know that what you and I are both experiencing appears to be normal but it is always good to ask your doctor about things like this in case you need to change medications or something else.

Hi Dwaggie,

It would appear that whatever triggers the nightmares also triggers the hot prickles. Maybe an errant chemical in the brain?

I don't get the hot tingles when asleep but do get weird stuff right before awakening. One morning, before I awoke, I could feel that my hand was stuck in a clawlike pose and I couldn't open it briefly. Then on another occasion, my thumb felt like it was popping out of joint (the top joint.) I mention these occurrences because I do think they are fibro-related and are also somehow related to your hot prickles. I don't understand why sleep seems to trigger these odd occurrences. I'd like to know if others also suffer from weird happenings at night.

Pet, did you read Wiseowl's response to the discussion 'what med works for you?', she talks about a muscle relaxant, Tizanidine? Sounds really promising, she is an RN, said it's cut her pain in half! Check it out!

No, I missed it. Thanks for pointing it out, I'll ask my doc ASAP.

Thanks!

Hi, yes I have awoke to pins and needles in legs, feet and arms. Not every morning, though. And nightmares! Wow, they are so real. I have them whenever I'm really sick, whether it's from fibro or pneumonia, makes no difference. I've got pvd, very poor circulation, so I imagine that's what mine's from. But tell your doc, everything is important enough to mention if your concerned. Good luck, hugs, Charlie :)
