I've seen in discussion that warm bath in epsom salts helps with pain? I'm newly diagnosed and don't have another appt until the 7th with the rheumatologist to go over bloodwork and make a plan for the future. So for another two weeks, I'm in agony. I figure I've put up with it for this long, I can make it two more weeks, but my body says otherwise LOL. I'm curently taking 1,000 mg of Motrin every 6 - 8 just to take the edge off and I'm sure my stomache isn't going to take that much longer......so, I'm looking for ANY ideas that can help ease the pain and make it a little more tolerable for the next week.
Yes, Dholden, and welcome. Epsom salt baths are wonderful. They are filled with magnesium which is great for muscle health. I also had a chiropractor tell me to add baking soda to reduce acid in general and I use that too. And if you have any, put in a couple of drops of lavender essential oil to help with relaxation. Not too hot on the water because that can make us feel so exhausted.
If it's cold where you are, use a heating pad or hot water bottle.
Have you considered acupuncture? I use it when I get into a mess and can't snap out of it. I swear by it, others don't like it so much. Some acupuncturists even give gentle massage after treatment. Then go home and slide into your Epsom salt bath. Oh, sounds wonderful right now, like I better make an appointment!
Two weeks is awhile to wait. I hope you get some more helpful responses. Best wishes to you. Take good care of yourself.
I love the Epsom salt baths they do help. You can also try the things over the counter like salon pads or the others that heat they also make creams and sprays. Yes that much motrin is not going to be good for your stomach have you tried any of the 12 hr pain tabs? Streatching will also help. I hope the wait goes by quickly. Try to read or do something to help take your mind of it.
Yes Epsom salt baths are so relaxing on muscles. Also massages at chiropractor helps slot. Please be careful with the Motrin I did damage to my stomach with the BC powders trying to relief pain…
Yes, baths work wonders for me. They took away all my pain meds (I'm enrolled in a program that doesn't let you have an opiods...it's supposed to help, but right now it just hurts) and I can't take NSAIDs, not even Tylenol, so now I spend a lot of time sitting in bubble baths, with or without salts. I've heard also taking a super hot shower and then wrapping up before bed can be helpful for sleep.
That is all. If you need me, I will be in the tub. ;)
I have tried epsom salts, but I don't know if it was that or just the warm water that helped with the pain, Maybe both. I do know that sometimes I'll take a warm shower to help with my lower body pain and that helps, then I quickly bundle up and keep the warmth going to prolong the benifit. I've found that even if my body doesn't register feeling cold, if I wrap up in a blanket, or put on my fuzzy socks, it helps so much with the pain. I hate being hot, but it helps, so I do it.
