Weather and fibro

Good morning,

First off, I am new here and want to thank everybody for the kind welcomes and suggestions.

I was wondering what factor weather plays in everyone's lives. There have been some recent studies indicating that it has no affect on FM. I'm quite skeptical about this because I know things like temperature, humidity, and even precipitation have a huge impact on the way I feel. Also these studies only used a handful of people so I don't understand how that qualifies as proper scientific research.

Has anyone benefited by moving from one type of climate to another? I'm struggling here in Chicago with the cold winters and humid summers, and contemplating a move to California.

I hope everyone has a fabulous day.

Kat

I can totally relate to the weather issues you experience - live in Wisconsin and the extremes just cripple me. I don’t think that study warrants any credibility if a large sampling isn’t used. People with arthritis, RA have the same issues with weather.

This is a great question, Kat, as so many of us wonder what the optimal place would be. I’d move there in a minute, but with family and friends so close, leaving them would be much harder than enduring the pain! I’m a sucker when it comes to my kids and grand kids! hugs to you in the Windy City ~ Sandi

I have lupus and fibro and I have read the different studies. I believe do to my body letting me no that the barometric pressure does cause changes in us someone did move to a different climate and was having splendid results I just can not remember if it was someone on this site or the lupus one All of us are different and our bodies react differently try typing weather in the search at the top right corner and it should pull up some past discussions.

I too would miss my kids and granddaughter way to much. California is just wishful thinking!

I had to deal with that growing pain nonsense.

Don't care what they say, barometric pressure can crush an empty coke can, say it in an experiment on a science show, I will try to find the same on a link. Think about it, lunar tides effect the ocean, solar flares effect our country's electrical grid, then there is a full moon babies are born and the crazies come out. This is no speculation it is fact. We are composed of mainly water and have electricity in our bodies. I believe our bodies are effected by whatever effects our atmosphere. What about the pressure in an airplane that hurts like all get out until we pop and equalize the pressure in our ear. And when we ascend into the mountains like the Rockies and get altitude sickness, that is because the barometric pressure is higher at higher altitudes, this is a no brainer. I was in Denver several times on business and had to stay in bed for 2 days because I was so sick, and my eyes looked like I had been on a bender. So the low pressure and high pressure fronts definitely have an effect on everything around us, why should we be any exception? I know when bad weather is coming and during bad weather I suffer increased pain. It's all here.

Me too! I had such terrible ones that my mom would get out the heating pad for me. Ran track and high jumped in high school - the shin splints were terrible. Didn’t have to shave because the tape would pull off the hair! On rainy cold days I was miserable - sometimes had to scratch. Looking back now it all makes sense.

If I win that huge lottery tonight we have to come up with the best place, because I would love to build a center just for Fibro with clinics, PT, massage therapy, acupuncture and a warm water pool as well as apartments. It’s my dream

WARM WELCOME KAT
I’m so glad you have joined us !
Yes… Weather plays a huge factor in how I feel, any change in temp is very difficult , the cold kills me as well as the humidity. I’m not sure if moving to a stable climit would help…but I’m guessing the whole move would be hard on the body, During the winter I sure do think about moving myself. I’d say if you ave the opportunity to choose California over Chicago I would think California would be better for anyone…lol

Hugs & blessings

Well I live in Dallas / Fort worth area of Texas and you want to talk about being tired and in pain , I'm drained all the time from such high humidity and heat which is pretty much from March to November its crazy awful here . I'm originally from Williamsburg Virginia and it was a lot better there would love to go back because you have the four seasons there and no real bad winters or summers .
