Weather

I'm new to this site. The reason I started looking for a site like this is because I need to know how others dealing with Fibro are getting by. The weather is a huge factor, any precipitation brings me down. Is there anything that will help?

also my menstrual cycle really brings me down to. Neither of these we have any control over. I'v ask my doctor but she says there's not anything to help. i'v only been diagnosed with this for a little over a year but dealing with it for 5+yrs.

Hope someone can help.

Welcome JoJo Lamb!

What state do you live in? I live in Oregon and the weather affects my pain as well. As it gets colder and wetter my pain goes up. When it warms up my pain is less but the moment it starts raining again my pain is out of control. I use a heating pad to the areas most affected. I also use a neck wrap (heat in microwave) for my neck pain which helps a lot!!! I also use ice hot and salon pas pain patches - they help but they are short limited like the heating pad. I just try anything I can think of to make me more comfortable. I take Tramadol and Flexeril for my Fibro - along with Gabapentin and Effexor. Hope some of these ideas help!

Hello, JoJoLamb. What an interesting screen name you have!

At any rate, yes, weather is awful on all of us, and you're right, precipitation really grinds on us. Menstral cycles also can be a horrible bear. I tend to use an ice pack as PT convinced me that ice reduces inflammation. And it does help, especially when I have the deep down, "feels like it's hitting the bone" pain.

The other thing i use is SalonPas, over-the-counter pain patches. They don't help everyone but they sure help me a lot!

I've also purchased a portable ultrasound machine (the ones costing under $100) because the heat from ultrasound that i had in PT helped me with one case of fibro pain in my elbow. I'll let you guys know how it works for me once I get around to using it.

I like to use a warming blanket to keep the chill off during the winter. That seems to keep the fibro a little more at bay.

Some people love to use Epsom salts in a warm or hot bath to reduce their achiness. The kind with Lavender in it also serves to calm you some.

Winter's ending soon, so for some of us the pain may be reduced. Until the spring rains hit, of course. But hopefully you're not in a state that gets hit badly with the rains.

Wishing you a good night, and reduced pain.

Hugs,

Petunia

Jo Jo lamb,
Hello there. Yes weather does a number on the pain for me as well. Humidity, cold, rain and even wind. Then in summer I complain it’s to hot. My cycle I use a heating pad one on my back and one on my tummy, and I always add midol to the mix.
Hang in there.
