So many animal lovers here, tell us your love story with some of your favorites!
I love all animals. I had a wolf that was rescued and could not go back into the wild you would not be leave the require ments for this his name was boo and I had him 7 years he even slept with me. I now have a red boa named baby and am getting a puppy from the animal shelter in about a week when he is ready.
Wow! I can sleep with a wolf before I could have a snake in the house! You're a fearless soul, pb! I've never had any warm, fuzzy feelings about a serpent! No offense to anyone who likes them, just personal preference!
I have had the best dog growing up, a Wire haired Terrier, smartest animal I have ever been around, horses, goats, rabbits, many cats, my son is an avid cat-lover! I grew up on a small farmette, with a myriad of animals! I love birds too. Parakeets are a favorite of mine! Love those little things! You can teach them to dance and talk, so much fun!
I have a 3 yr old Great Pyrenees and one that is 2 months old. I also have a Miniature Siberian Husky and Border Collie mix, and a 2 yr old Yorkie. They understand English so well that we have to spell around them at times. Haha. They are better than any security system you can buy. Any animal lover knows how deep your affections can be for your pets---they are just like soul mates. I sometimes tease that I should have them cloned. I can't even be away from them for more than a couple of hours without wanting to get back home to them. Does anyone know of a pet friendly beach around the Gulf Shores,AL area or around Destin,FL ?
We have two dogs and a cat. When my son moves out, Nimkii the 8 year old tuxedo cat will go with him. Due to allergies, he'll be the last kitty we have. The two dogs are a Chiwhatsit (Chihuahua and we don't know what is it?) named Yoda who is my husband's dog though we all love him and Chi Chi who is a Chiweenie. We named him Chewbacca but he only answers to Chichi or Cheese. They're both rescues. ChiChi was in a foster home for a dog rescue from six months to about a year old or so after having been rescued from the pound. The rescue lady had 12 rottweilers as she usually rescued rotties but couldn't resist Chi, so he thinks he's a rottie. You can see both his chihuahua half and dachshund half when looking at him. He picked me as his favorite person and is my cuddle buddy. He knows when I don't feel well and is very loving and caring. I love other animals but my main doctors prefer I don't have any so just the dogs it will be. Not doing without my dogs. lol
I have always loved fish. When I was about 7 I caught a minnow in the pond near our house. I had him for 6 years! Loved the goldfish food. I then proceeded to get an aquarium when I got married and loved to watch fish in the tank. Always wanted a salt water tank because the fish are so colorful - but very expensive!
But my two favorite pets are the golden retriever, Shane, who grew up with my kids and pulled on his fur to learn to walk and my current black lab/German shorthair pointer mix, Kirby. I’ve had him for 3 years and he has been such a blessing to me. He’s very sensitive to my moods, protective but a really friendly loveable big 70 lb. baby.
If I had the money I would have as many horses as I could. I love to ride and did for years until I had back surgery. Such beautiful, instinctive animals! Ahhhhh…
Would you be a Star Wars fan, waves? ha!
lol yep. My husband and sons are Star Wars nuts and Yoda just looked like a Yoda so that started it. I don't allow light saber battles in the living room though. Had to put my foot down on that and on the gun rack they wanted to put up to hang the light saber toys on lol.
I've always loved Star Trek! Star wars too, but I'm more of a Trekie! I understand the fascination with the light sabers, bought tons of them for my nephew! Even bought him a Darth Vader costume one year, he BEGGED ME, of course we had to buy a new light saber for the look! ha! It was pretty pricey, but we agreed it would be his birthday present, he wore it all of the time! Slept in a lot of it!
Yoda was my favorite character of all, of Star Wars, though I always loved the characters they would show gathering in the lounge!
Great pics, Nan! I especially liked all of the 'curious cats' in the tub! That's a great one! Sweet doggie too!
2 Boston Terriers named Ellie and Marlee, a calico named Daisy and a black cat named Kee Kee. Never had a cat before, both of these are strays that we ended up with. We love animals and I think my husband would have more, but I’ve said no more! I usually take the dogs to work with me, so they are pretty spoiled!
We like Star Trek here too but they're most into Star Wars. When I find a light saber at a garage sale or thrift store for less than 5 bucks, and in decent condition, I usually buy it. My oldest will buy his own because he knows if I buy it then his dad might wind up with it. He loves to go to garage sales with me but he's looking for legos and Steam Punk stuff too. He's 28 but has Asperger Syndrome. Sometimes his Dad will fuss about his liking for "toys" but then I ask him what the light sabers and KISS cars are and he hushes. Yoda was my favorite too and the dog really does resemble him except he's not green lol.
My animals, Iv'e had a relationship with animals all my life, from smokey the cat my first putty, then Gypsy my first pony to many bueatiful, dressage horses the best of them, Serafin a bueatiful black thouroughbred that won me many competitions, then the love of my life Roxy a rescue dog, a bueatiful smart loving girl who was with me for 15 yrs, it broke my heart to have her put down but she looked at me help mum I can't do this anymore, she died on my lounge room floor in fact it still makes me cry, and it's been 10yrs now I got her cremated and she got her special place as do my other animals that have passed in my lounge room. Then we got Shadow our Alaskan Malamute also a rescue bueatiful big boy, he had a lot of health problems 3 cruscit ligiment reconstructions, he had 1 eye removed due to a tumor then got bone cancer in his front leg we had to make the heart breaking decision to get his front leg removed, he had been through so much I just couldn't do it to him knowing his back legs were not great so we decided in his best interest to have him put down. It broke our hearts one of the worst days of my life. then we got Cheify a bueatiful mummys boy border collie he is 12 now and I worry about his time with us and a little foo foo fluffy slipper I got left to me in a friends will. This year I've had to get 2 putty put down because of old age, putty-anne, and Softie that left me reeling, and our lucky last a nnew putty a kitten called Trouble who thinks he's a dog. I loved all of them they are my family members I have no living family except my fur family and I grieve there passing just as you would a human, they have comforted me been there for me and loved me all unconditionaly where can you find that kind of loyalty this is a tribute to them all
I have always had dogs and usually 2 at a time. Now, I have 3. When I acquired my first house, I rescued two Keeshonds. They are beautiful dogs. They died natural deaths and were outside dogs. Paddy and Digby could not stand being inside very long. Except for being outside, they were treated like children. I would walk them daily and hold all 45lbs. of them daily-even in the rain on the front porch swing. Now, I have such fond memories of them.

Now, I have bed-robbers. My Pom and rat-terrier sleep with me every night and stay with me when I’m sick. Rudy seems to sense everything. I think since he was a rescue, he appreciates things more. He is rotten. C.B. was purchased at a pet store before all this info about puppy mills came out. Talk about rotten. He sleeps on the top of my head at night. He’s 12 now. Rudy sleeps under the cover and he sleeps on top.
Now, the little girl… The 4lb Yorkie is the Queen Bee. She rules the roost. When she came to live here she was a biter, never socialized, wouldn’t let you groom her, etc. Well, I made a little puppy sister out of her. I worked on that baby girl just holding and combing and nurturing her. She weighed a little under 2 1/2lbs when she came here. She sleeps under the bed as a safety net.
I’m the crazy dog lady who takes them to be groomed every month, vet as needed, heart worm pills, every good snack in the world, and good food. All I know is that they love me, and I love them. The last one I lost was cremated and in a beautiful walnut box on my mantle.
I’ve always grown up with a cat and my Puss Puss now adopted me when first got fibro. He’s such a sweetie and looks after his mummy. He loves his munchies too though so his massages are a bit painful on the trigger points now lol.
I love all animals though and used to have an inuit dog too but he became too much when I got fibro. Beautiful dogs but they do take advantage of the weak. My back and shoulders and hips just got too bad trying to deal with his doggy adHd haha.
So Puss Puss came along and he is quite gentle for a chunky monkey. And he doesn’t eat my munchies…

I couldn't do without my 2 rescue cats, Basil and Sybil. They both had quite sad past lives but they are now loved and spoilt to death!!
They follow me round, keep me company when I have my afternoon nap! There's just one house rule for them - mess with my knitting and they'll go back to where they came from!!
My son calls me the crazy cat lady!

I have absolutely loved reading all the animal stories… Wow we all love them so much, I’m a huge lover of all animals !!! Had cats & dogs growing up, I’m down now to my little Mandy she is a 6 lb multi- poo, and about 15 teen years old, she has severe separation anxiety and even when I’m home she does not wonder more than 2 feet from me… She is my baby right now
I also love horses, prior to getting sick, I rode every week, even won reserve grand champion in a show…
It’s been over a year now since I could even lift the saddle , so instead of getting depressed about it I just am so thankful that I have the opportunity to go to the barn and be around the horses when I feel up to it, just being there for an hr is therapy for me !!!
Keep the stories coming there so very touching great post , I love it

Right now we have an amazingly smart, beautiful Brittany Spaniel. His name is Tow-Mater. We call him Mater. My youngest daughter gave him to me and my husband blew it and told our daughter it was for her birthday 2 years ago. I was so mad! But our daughter who is developmentally delayed it was ok. Mater and I are alone all day and we have some great conversations with me doing most if the talking. Sometimes he “talks” back to me. He’s so funny when her does “talk” to me. We all love him very much and my husband tells Mater when he leaves for work to take care of me. We’ve had him two years and he’s like our grandchild!! If I fall he’s right there checking on me. He now stays pretty close to me unless our daughter is home then he’s following her around and I’m no longer his priority. Lol
Haha so funny. Love the visuals! Thanks for the chuckles x
Aww cute. Prayers sent for the poorly ones. Love to see a pic of the possum. We don’t see have them England so must be quite special to be around dogs
