What Are Your Favorite Distractions from Pain?

Hi MBP Sorry to hear of your surgery. What did you have done? I like how enthusiastic you sound in listing your likes. I too am a foodie...but i am limited to sweets and pastry. I live in philly and if you have never been, let me tell you we have many fine sweets here. I am five minutes from the oldest Italian pastry store, oldest soft pretzel company, tastykakes (a local business with yummy stuff), bagels, cream cheese, gelato --thank you to all the first generation Italian Americans that settles here). You would have a field day!

Feel better

Maria

I do not watch either but know many many people who just are hooked on The Walking Dead. Does anyone watch Sons of Anarchy? LOVE IT Hot men on motorcycles. Whats not to love? He He

THIS IS A GREAT TOPIC RENIE--THANK YOU FOR THE IDEA. I THINK WE ARE ALL CREATIVE AND WONDER IF BEING ILL AND IN THE HOUSE FORCES US TO FIND HOBBIES. I KNOW WHEN I WORKED FULL TIME I DID NOT THINK OF HOBBIES. NOW I DO ORIGAMI, WRITE POEMS, MAKE LITTLE PLUSH ANIMALS FROM FELT-THIS IS NEW SO WE SHALL SEE.......READ, PLAY GAMES....IF YOU THINK OF IT, WITH THE LITTLE TIME WE HAVE THAT IS PAIN FREE, WE ARE A FUN BUNCH. I THINK I WILL START A DISCUSSION WHERE WE MAYBE CAN DISPLAY SOME OF OUR WORK (HINT TO PET=;)

Hi Maria,

I hope that you are doing better also. I have been reading your posts and have been praying for you. I don’t respond a whole lot but I am still praying. I had a tumor removed from my esophagus. It was in a really bad place so the surgery was pretty intricate and long. I was not prepared for the length of the recovery. I had a respite from the fibro symptoms while I was in the hospital (8 days) and for a few days after but now they are back full force. Went to the doc today and he upped my neurontin and put me back on Mobic. He also made a referral to the other rheumatologist in town as I didn’t like the first one. Meanwhile, I will just keep on keeping on! Have a great day.

I appreciate your thoughts and prayers. It means a lot that you would pray for me while you are going through so much. It is humbling. I will be praying for you that the neurontin and mobic kick in soon.

Thank you!

1. Talking on the phone to my family. My mom and grown son are in Florida so I don't see them often. It's a treat to talk to them on the phone and helps me forget about the pain.

2. A REALLY good book - mystery.

3. Articles about early man. I always wanted to be an archeologist. LOL, can't imagine crouching down for hours on end and brushing away specs of dirt THESE days. Nut uh.

4. FOOD.

5. My job. Unless it's a bad pain day.

6. Talking on here.

I love all of your hobbies, Fibrokitty! I wish I had the get up and go to do these things. They sound like such fun! Can you post pictures? I'd especially love to see the felt animals.
