HI Pet - OMG! Your pets sound just adorable! I am a real animal lover and I had worked at the Humane Society here for many years, in the surgery department. I really miss working there - but, like a lot of people here, I had to retire. My girlfriend has a chihuahua named Sasha. She is 3 years old and whenever she sees me - when I come to visit - she absolutely goes crazy! LOL She has to sit on my lap for as long as I am visiting. One of the many things that Sasha does that's so cute, is if she has been misbehaving, my girlfriend will say, ''Are you being a little naughty now??'' Sasha understands what it means and she will hop up on my lap for comfort and bury her head between her paws as if she knows she is being a naughty girl! SO cute!! Laurie
You have quite the little furry family, Petunia! Must be a riot at your house! I'm sure they keep you laughing!
Hi Laurie,
This reminds me of a Pennsylvania dutch saying "too soon old, too late smart"!
You were very wise to get away from that one!
I am bedridden at least a day, sometimes up to a week afterward, but what a way to go! If I did not push, push, push, I could not do it, but if I don't do it NOW, I may live with severe regrets. They are only little ONCE!!
They all opened and are all fabulous, I must say, as pretty as Bette is, she never looked so good!
Thank you, Pet, on the nice compliment. You are right when you speak of the essence of a person. Because we all have two eyes, a nose, and a mouth. So I have to find that one thing to capture the essence of the person.....whether it is a sly smile, a twinkle in their eye, a stoic look, etc.... I put myself in their skin, so to speak, when I draw them. I have several pictures of them to frequently look at and might even watch a movie or clip of them to really FEEL what it's like to be them. That might sound strange but it really helps me to "Capture" them.
You are so right about dogs (babies). So innocent, so remarkable. The love they show is deep and their loyalty, never ending. They don't care how you're dressed or if you have bad breath or are in a bad mood, they just want to be with you regardless. People may use you or let you down but a dog never will, that's why I love them so much!
Thank you for the advise on my daughter. Yes, I think you're right, she won't know until she has kids of her own. The anger she has is for a few reasons and for at least one of them, I take the blame. I'm divorced. While married, my husband had an affair. So, I had one to get even. Not a good idea because I became pregnant and all during it, I wasn't sure who the father was. When she was born with dark hair and eyes while me and my ex have blue eyes, I suspected he was not the father. So did he but he never really pushed a paternity test. I divorced him and moved out of state to live with my mom until I got on my feet financially. When my daughter was old enough, I told her the truth. I couldn't stand living with that lie. So now she holds a grudge against me because she doesn't know for sure who her dad is. I broke off all contact with the affair guy because he was in the mafia and I was afraid that if he ever found out, he might put a hit out on me and just take her. So, she's upset that she can't contact him and talk to him about it. I guess in time she will come to terms with it. Since there is Italian in my ex's family tree, he could possibly be the father. He still calls her on a regular basis and I know he loves her. He doesn't have any other children so I think he has just accepted her as his daughter. But I will live with that guilt probably forever.
Whoever painted that dog has so much talent! Such a sweet face! : )
I would never tire of seeing your work, you are such a true artist! This takes incredible discipline and dedication, just like mastering a musical instrument! Practice, practice, practice!
My kids are my greatest achievement! Two girls, 18 & 16 and my son, 14.
I am also pretty happy in my relationship with my boyfriend John. He has been so incredibly supportive! He even bought a new camper so I’m more comfortable. I used to love camping but the past few years have been almost torture. I can’t tolerate the heat and our little pop up was pretty crowded and no AC! Plus there was no bathroom in the pop up and having to walk to the bath house in the middle of the night sucked! Now, ta da…I get to enjoy camping again! AC, a bathroom and room for all of us even if it rained and we were all stuck inside.
People have said that to me before, that Bette looks beautiful in that drawing, even prettier than in real life. I wanted to draw her showing a soft, more feminine side of her. Thank you for the compliment. I never knew I could draw until I saw a book on drawing at the library one day and just checked it out because I was bored. I was 45 at the time. I began drawing just an orb and shadowing it and practiced soooooo much before I realized, wow, I can maybe really do this! It took a few years to get to where the portraits really looked like the star. I've sold a few, like Lucy and Marilyn. The rest (about 30 of them) I gave away to a gal who's son had cancer. She was trying to raise money to pay for his treatment so I gave her the drawings and said, "Sell them for whatever you can get for them and I hope it's enough to help your son." So, I don't have any drawings anymore (I pulled the ones posted here from an artist website where I had posted them). But that's ok...... : )
Wow Tina three teens… Thats so awesome !! My son is 19, and I love him so much !! But teens can certainly can be difficult at times, I’m sure I just worry to much, and just want the best for him… my daughter is 29, and being that she is older now, she is such a huge blessing !! Of course she gave me a run for my money when she was a teen. They are both my greatest blessings !!
Also being a nurse has been my most rewarding accomplishment !!
I’m so happy you can enjoy camping again, that John is a keeper !!!
Enjoy the fun memories you will build

Yes indeed, that is the way to camp! How nice it is to hear stories of the thoughtful husband! We have to give them credit for their 'knight in shining armor' moments! I think they are all pretty lucky to have you too, Tina!
Good idea SK! When I was 12 my guitar playing aunt decided I should learn to play. Because I could sing, she thought it would be good to be able to accompany myself on the guitar. Unfortuneatly (how do you spell that damn word?) I quit when my fingers started to hurt. But a few years ago I bought a guitar (I'm 53 now) and taught myself. It's very satisfying. I also adopted a puppy last year, Teddi. He's the light of my life :) I quit playing the guitar when I first got sick, but decided lately I miss it and am determined to get back at it! This discussion has put a little spring in my step, thanks for that SK :) Hugs Charlie
Thanks SK, like Charlie said this discussion has put a spring in my step… After reading about how kid friendly your home is, makes me want to have my grandson over for a night, he just recently asked my daughter " when can I spend the night with mamma d " ah that’s so sweet ! I have not had him all night since New Years , so I’m going to take some of your suggestions for a kid friendly home and have him over.
Yes it wipes me out, but he is only little once… It will be worth it !
Thanks SK , your an awesome granny !!!

Thanks girls! Charlie, I am so glad you are picking up your Guitar again. I bought my grandson one last year, with all the gear, lessons did not last long, I'm hoping he learns it, he is finding all the music I grew up with you YouTube and when he comes will play music from Bad Company, The Eagles, and I hope that they inspire him to want to really learn the guitar, he is always making up songs to sing! He says he has entered the talent show and plans to strum the guitar and sing! I'm hoping for an invitation!
Dee, good for you! He will always remember the time he spent with you, and hopefully it will make a better person, parent, and grandparent of him in years to come!
That's the thing, you turn around and they are grown! We found a lot of things at yard sales too, I got some great toys, books, bikes, train sets, even clothing to have on hand, all at yard sales! Why not?
The Crayola water colors are great, can pick them up in grocery stores, drug stores, if you get markers, get the washable ones, the dollar store has great stickers, and you can usually find the real paint brushes made of hair rather than those horrible plastic ones that come with the paints.
