What to do?

I have been taking Lyrica since about January, and while the pain has gotten better, the Lyrica side effects are now eating me up. The horrible headaches and jaw pain! The constant need to stretch. Brain fog and dry skin and mouth ... it's all horrendous. Not to mention the darned weight gain! Usually, these symptoms are worse in the evening. Anyone have advice on what would relieve some of these symptoms? I so appreciate all of yall! :)

Hi Susan

Oh I so wish I had something that would help, but sadly all I can do is empathise.
I have been on lyrica 600-750mg daily (for years now) plus many other meds. I too get jaw pain, headaches, brainfog and horrendous weight gain…
I had been tried on a variety of meds before lyrica, but for one reason or another was not able to tolerate them, or they just didnot work…,
I have always put my jaw pain, headaches and brainfog down to suffering with fibro and CFS, but I’m certain that the lyrica has affected my weight (although as I’m unable to do any form of exercise, and I do tend to ‘comfort eat’ I guess it’s only part of the reason)

Sorry I can’t help, but I’m with you on this one. Gentle hugs.

Bev

Have you tried Savella? For some it has really bad side effects, others tolerate well. I couldnt take the chance of weight gain so Savella is what my Dr. recommends. Been on for years and dont remember any side effects. Maximum dose only takes the edge off, but I think most meds do.

Hi Susan

I’ve just had a read about savella and noticed that its not licenced in the UK
Also had a quick read of the potential side affects and weight gain is on it - so knowing my luck I’d end up gaining even more!!!
Thanks for the suggestion though

Bev

Hi

I’m on cymbalta as well as lyrica (and others). and the thought of trying to wean myself off is completely out of the question…

If I - due to brainfog, forget to take my lyrica in the morning I am literally climbing the walls in pain within a couple of hours, so I guess I can take from that that it does help my pain somewhat.

But if I could come off my meds I would give it a go.

Thanks, everyone! I have been suffering from fibro for what seems like forever. I was diagnosed with fibro in December of last year. I take Cymbalta and Lyrica for pain and depression bc I have this horrible disease. I also take Trazodone and Soma to help with sleeping. I usually feel detached from the world. My face does this "buzzing" feeling thing, the skin on other areas of my body does the same. Also, I have brain fog (not good when you are in college) and extreme jaw pain. I have never been high, but I suppose the way I feel would prob be close. I am so irritated with fibro! Tired of my hands and feet not doing what I want them to. I can't say words that I think of at times.Sometimes I can't swallow. It's so scary, and it's seemingly destroying my life.
