Hi I’m new and I’m sure I’m not the only one that is tired of being so tired. I have two small children and really need some energy. My fatigue has been getting worse. Every morning my first thought is when can I go back go sleep? I used to be so active with my kids and taking care of my home. I get fatigued doing the simplest things. Today I called my reumy and she told the secretary to tell me to make an appointment with my GP. I was disappointed, i live in a small town and I go see her 2 1/2 hrs away. My GP is my obgyn and he does not believe in fibro. What should I do? I can’t take this lack of energy anymore. I take so many vitamins, have been exercising and watching what I eat. Has your Dr prescribed anything for fatigue?
Hello Martha,
Must be so difficult for you with children, not sure I could manage. Have grandchildren, who I love looking after, but can only manage small bursts now. As for the tiredness, I take Amitryptlene, helps a little but you have to pace yourself as well. Sorry I could not be more helpful, the only other thing I can suggest is accept all the help you can get from family and friends, so you can get some rest.
Take care, Anne x
Hi Martha,
I can relate to your story, I also have kids and it can be a challenge at time keeping up with everything.
I recently started drinking magnesium and malic acid, and it seems to be working. You might want to give it a try. Hope it all gets better soon!!
Hi Martha
You may want to find a GP in your area. Their are several things that could be causing the fatigue to get worst and he/she can do blood test to check for them. This would also give you some one who can keep a check on all the meds you take including vitamins and supplements to be sure you are not getting to much of something.
Hiya, Martha!
So sorry to hear you are having a difficult time with fatigue. That, by far, one of the worst symptoms bcz you just have a hard time treating it.
Have you tried taking additional vitamin D3? I have to becz I have a vit D deficiency. I suggested this to my neighbor who also has fibro, and she takes an additional 1 capsule of 5,000 IU's a day and she has noticed an increase in energy. Just be careful not to take too much. Have you thought about searching for an internist? I have had to see one for years because of my other health problems and I will never go back to a regular MD again!
But I would suggest making an appointment with a reg MD or an Internist & a couple of days before your appointment make a list of questions to ask the doctor. Remember, you are interviewing him/her for the position of your care & you have every right to ask questions even one such as: "Do believe that Fibromyalgia exists & how to treat the devastating symptoms that come with it? Are you familiar with any of the groundbreaking research associated with this illness?"
I truly hope I have helped you in some way.
Love Always,
Kisses! (I like to be different)
Anne, I have a difficult time accepting help. I am a 100% giver and I have a hard time accepting help bcz of this. My bestie says I need to stop it and let others help. I know she is right but it really is hard for me. I always think to myself that if someone is helping me someone else is being neglected who needs the help more than me. I know there is fallacy to this & I am trying to work on it. Any suggestions?
Also, I am on Amitryptlene as well, for sleep. But I am fixin to ask doc to put me on something else bcz I have to take max dose now in order to get enough sleep.
Love Always!
Kisses! (I like to be different)
It might be a good idea to seek out a PCP/GP in your area that has a lot of good recommendations. Someone that you could go to for anything-whether you catch the flu or get strep throat. Someone that you could get an annual well-check visit. You could give them your complaints/symptoms and they could do blood work on you to see where your cholesterol levels are, your thyroid function, etc. Someone that would keep a full detailed record for you regarding your health. A good GP/PCP will be able to take your symptoms/complaints and be able to get the necessary tests done to pinpoint what your health issues are and how to treat them. In some cases, they will refer you to a specialist if need be. You may have multiple issues going on. I hope you get the answers soon & feel better!
I have a little guy and one on the way myself. I am new to this disease also so can't offer much in meds department because I'm still trying to figure out what will work for me. I agree with previous post to start vitamin d. That does help with energy but can take months to get levels up more. Maybe try to find a dr closer to home. That way if one med doesn't work your close to go back and try another. Also a gp that believes fibro exists will help. If you stick with normal dr tell them to treat these fatigue symptoms as they would a normal person who doesn't have fibro and that might help. Keep us updated on what you decide. Hope you feel better soon!!
Thanks everyone for the advice. I will have to look into an internist. My town is small and the best care for me is about 3 hrs away in San Antonio so I’ll have to find one there. I am taking D3 and B vitamins my bloodwork shied that I’m borderline anemic and that my vitamin D level was also at the low end of normal. I only take 1000 of D but I will up it and see. I wouldn’t mind trying a b12 shot but I would have to ask for it and I don’t know if the Doc would be willing to give it to me. Thanks so much for your advice. It’s nice to talk to people that know what your going through.
God bless
My mom has also been taking the B-12 injections for about 2 years....once a month....and can tell significantly when it's getting close to the next injection time. It certainly isn't a cure all but does help her tremendously. I think getting bloodwork done to check for deficiencies is a really excellent idea!
I'm so sorry you are having a difficult time with the exhaustion, Martha....it can be so frustrating! Wishing you the best in your search for a new Dr..... Remember that laying with your little ones and just looking at pictures in books....when it's too tiring to even read....or listening to music and watching them dance.....are special moments that you can experience with them without wearing yourself out...... It is so hard to take it easy and give yourself permission to relax in the midst of your busy season of life with children.....
