What Types of Jobs Do You Do?

I work as a technical specialist creating sites using microsoft sharepoint. It's a lot of sitting, and sometimes I just have to take time off. But at least I have paid leave and medical benefits so I can afford all my healthcare and prescriptions.

Wow - you have no idea how timely this is. For the last few days I've been wondering how much longer I could hold on without working. I've looked into internet jobs but they all seem to be scams. So I've just been sitting here racking my brain and I thought " let me see how things are going on the fibro site!! " The universe at work.

Thanks Shelia for that list - I'll be looking forward to it because, as I said, most of the ones I've come across want you to sent money for their "kit" to become a billionaire. LOL

I stay home with my two y/o and four year old. It is extremely difficult to watch the effect my bad times have on them. I try to send them with my grandma every once in a while. She is a much better role model, as she can stay busy and upbeat. I use those days to try to straighten up our house.

I am so sorry you don’t have any help. I can empathize with the hopeless feeling. I hope you can get disability!

I don't think you are a bad role model. I used to think that with my kids until my son wrote me a birthday letter. He thanked me for taking care of the family through my depression and pain. Life goes fast and kids grow up fast, too fast. My kids are 19 and 28. They were little the other day...

It's great that you stay home. Being a mom is the most important job in the universe.

OK- I JUST POSTED MY RESEARCH ON LEGITIMATE WORK AT HOME JOBS.

I hope it helps a lot of you.

Sheila

I sent you a message. Don't give up. The Lord loves you. We all love you.

Thank you!

I work at a service station 5 days a week, on my 2 days off I study when I can lately I’ve been pretty slack with it I’m stuck on a question and its driving me nuts, I need to change my profession as I’m on my feet all day hence the studying. Melissa

What are you studying? What do you like to do?

I’m studying community services the. I’d like to do youth and maybe mental health after that

It's amazing some of the difficult, demanding positions everyone holds, while dealing with FMS. Be proud of yourselves for being strong enough to overcome the challenges!

I was an office manager for a Rheumatologist. I was on my feet for 9 hours every day, and surprisingly I was fine. It was when I would get in the car at night for my hour commute home that I would fall apart, and my husband would literally have to get me out of the car each night.

I had to leave the job due to the mental stress, and that stress hurt my body more than physically running all day. I would go back to work in a heartbeat if I could find something close by, but every job I see requires at least an hour commute.

I used to work at a community service agency, Mel. Did you say you're stuck on a question? Please let us know what it is here and maybe we can help.

Thank you Renie for sharing. Yes, I know the stiff horrid feeling of peeling myself out of the vehicle! We go for walks along the Rio Grande River . After the walk, I feel energized. Then just a fifteen minute commute and I am so stiff! Maybe a car seat with a messager?? If there is such a thing. Or would a heated seat help?

Debriana, please let us now that you're ok. I lost a brother to suicide several years ago. Those who are left behind are so much more hurt emotionally than it might seem. There are community action agencies that may be able to help you. If you email me your town and or county, I will look them up for you. I used to work for one here in Michigan and they have more programs than people know of. Many places also have community health or mental health offices that can help. Disability pay was being discussed on one of the other threads and someone said that at 56 first time approvals are more common. Also, if someone is denied they need to appeal and apply again and again as many times as it takes. If you call 211 the United Way should be able to offer names and numbers for resources to help you. The suicide hotlines are also another place to look for help. Please let us know you are ok. We care.

Besides the jobs to do at home, I also brought up the list for help also comprised by Sheila that may help many. I use it often, the information is priceless. It is entitled "Help for low income Americans" and it has helped countless people.

Yes please Debriana, respond. I have been praying for you all afternoon. We love you!

That would be helpful.

I felt the need to reply to a few people before giving my own answer lol but I'm here now. *waves at the other Michigander I noticed on the board* I used to work for a Community Action agency called Oakland Livingston Human Service Agency. I started out as a preschool teacher in Head Start for the early childhood and family division. I was a home base teacher for one year then a classroom teacher for 3 years. I was a little burnt out on teaching and transferred into the office. The next 4 years, I was a Family Involvement Coordinator which was a huge amount of work as I had to facilitate parent meetings for five centers (about 560 kids) a parent committee for those combine centers and Policy Council which was the Head Start parent group for all the centers in the county. The next 2 years were rougher because they combined my position with Family Services. There were several of us then but I still ended up doing a lot of the parent meeting work as well as overseeing files for two classrooms and a multitude of other odds and ends. I also had to oversee school picture day and the Scholastic Book Fair at one point during that period. After 10 years there, I was asked by my supervisor to go on disability leave to try and take care of my health because they were worried about me. I could plan and carry out a banquet for sixty while getting food and clothes for families and other duties but I was having asthma attacks at work and falling. I went on short term disability first, then they denied my long term disability (the insurance company) because of one misunderstood phrase at one doctors office (I was only "fine" when I left there office because I had stopped passing out and vomiting. My husband had to go get me. My body does not tolerate cortisone injections but we didn't know that then). I applied for SSDI and am on that now.

It's wonderful to see so many writers here! I could write but haven't tried much. I've had one erotic romance novella published but it was under a pseudonym and is out of print. I have thought about doing more but haven't tried. I suppose I', afraid of failure though I know I have help. I beta read for a friend and he would look at things for me. Another friend is an editor but she is really busy. Another has reviewed books and is brutally honest so she would tell me like it is. I guess I'm just not ready yet. Someone mentioned a site to check publishers, another site is preditors and editors. They list publishing companies and what they know of them. My one friend, J Morgan, is happy at Desert Breeze Publishing. They publish strictly non erotic work I believe. One of his novellas was available on Desert Breeze as a free sample I believe. One of the books in his Love Bites series. I'm not in that one but I appear as a Vampire Queen (a good one) named Waterfall Woman in later books of that series. Oops I could go on and on about books sorry. They're one of my passions. I love to read.

I hit send but wanted to add a resource separately. www.pantrynet.org is a place to look up food pantries and food banks in your area. I can write a post on how to look up your local community action agencies and help programs if that will help anyone? Also, if you see me online here or on facebook at WatersWaves or yahoo at waterfall_woman please feel free to IM me or email me. I may be a little slow, depending on how I'm feeling but I'll try to reply as soon as I can. I have EDS and Fibromyalgia but I still remember how to look up resources and info. Google likes me lol.

love and hugs
