Avenk, how is the combo of Lyrica and Gaba working? Did you start with major pain problems? I know not everybody with Fibro has really bad pain. I am surprised you are on both because Lyrica is the younger cousin, so to speak, of Gaba, hey but if it works it works, right?
There is a very strong connection between the barometric pressure and your pain not to mention just about every system in your body, some we notice and some we don't. We can't feel the pressure on our bodies but it is there and our bodies react to the change in pressure. I taught Pulmonary Rehabilitation for 10 years and almost every patient I worked with would be more short of breath on days with a lower barometric pressure. It also effects joints with arthritis or previous injuries. I can't always tell if it is going to rain by my knee pain. When the barometric pressure drops it allows the next weather system to move into the area with a lower pressure and usually brings rain with it. I hope that make sense, I would be a horrible weather newscaster.
I know when my old injuries start to hurt it is like someone has turned on a switch and all my other joints and muscles start hurting too.
Farida, I am so sorry that you are in so much pain, both emotionally and physically. I think that my pain and depression seem to come together. I will notice that I am down just before a flare so I do what I can to keep my emotional down to a minimum.
HUGS to you!
Traci
My hips and shoulder have been horrible as well. For a few months I could hardly walk or move much. I started going to physical therapy and did a tons of yoga. I still have problems with my hips. It feels like my musclea are lulling my hip out of place, but I have been able to manage it. I also sleep with a heating pad on my hips. It is amazing what a little heat can do!
I've taken Joint soothers from Vitamin World for 10yrs or more. before taking it I couldn't even open a baby food jar. or stand for any length of time. constant pain in my hips and hands. since I started taking this I have very little pain. and I can open jars of any kind. I have fibro and arthritis. it takes about 2 weeks to notice the difference. it is worth the wait.
Yes, Traci, I am keeping my eyes on the barometric pressure to see if it increases my pain. Though only for a short period of time, it does not SEEM to make a difference. Yesterday I was in a tremendous amount of pain, again. The two days before had a lower barometric pressure but the pain was manageable, we'll see.
I called my doc's office yesterday for references of someone who specializes in Fibro and both offices she recommended do not take my insurance. I asked and they had no more recommendations. GRRRRR!
I found a Rheumatologist not too terribly far from my home who also specializes in fibro and takes my insurance, I think I will call her tomorrow for an appointment and see how that goes. She may even be able to help me with my Osteoarthritis in my neck, back and hands.
Trying to stay positive is really becoming a chore that is getting harder and harder to do. I am lowering, slowly, my 3200mg of Gabapentin since I t's not doing a great deal for my joint pain, I'll stop reducing when my muscle pain starts up again.
Not sure what she can prescribe for my. I can't/won't take Lyrica because I am a diabetic and it can increase blood glucose and there is a petition for the FDA to take Savella off the market.
I'll keep everyone posted. Hugs back, Farida
I use my heating pad, ice packs and a TENS unit. Neither of the aforementioned does much for my hip pain, not moving it often seems the least painful.
Heating pad works well on my back, neck and hands, but that's arthritis.
Ice pack and TENS work sometimes on my shoulders. Again less movement, less pain.
I feel the same about having my hip pulled out of my socket when it's painful and I am not walking on it, otherwise it feels like it wants to push through the socket. Also, when I turn my foot outward, while my leg is straight, it is VERY painful.
Today I'm having a better day so I am trying to play catch-up with the cleaning and, of course, I overdid it. Now I'll be down for the evening, but I got some cleaning done and that makes me feel better.
Thank, Blondie59, I'll check it out, for sure. Farida
your welcome. I hope it works out for you.
