I read recently that most FM sufferers have 11 of the 18 pressure points , well i have all 18 and besides there is no exact point of pain most of the time for me unless you call your whole body a pressure point. Anybody else feel the same?
Ah, Pebbles, some days we probably feel like we have 118 pressure points, and once in a while we have a good day and just forget we have any! I guess they know the real hot spots, things we just don't know all the medical details of!
Hope you can find a way to feel better very soon and enjoy your young life, and your handsome guy!
We are on your side!
YES!! My entire body hurts all the time. I think I have all the pressure points, too, and they seem to be the parts that hurt the most, but truly I hurt everywhere.
Yes those days that are good ones I want to beleive that do nt have FM,CFS, and DDD and even feel somewhat guilty and say to myself that i should not be lazy and i should try harder any body else feel this way too??
Yes, some days no measure of trying harder will do it for me, so I just try not to be too hard on myself. I forgive myself, but still try to have some measure of motivation! It's a tight rope walk, of course!
when i was being tested (for an "official" diagnosis of fibromyalgia...which i say with sarcastic humor, because...it wasn't enough that i SAID i was hurting everywhere?!) anyway, i really had to keep from laughing as they very somberly tested the points. you could have sneezed at me & i would have hurt! i did notice that there were particular spots that made me scream...but EVERYWHERE was a hotseat of pain. i'm shaking my head here...i have a dim view of our medical community....i guess they have to have some control to cling to... lol
Hi,
Yes, I have all 18 trigger points..so like you its like my whole damn body is betraying me. I was in 5 car accidents...NONE OF THEM MY FAULT..one almost fatal one..they said Fibro is caused by trauma to the body, so I guess that is why I have Fibro...damn!!!!
I have 16 of the 18 trigger points but also have the all over pain and stiffness. I also was in several car accidents. None my fault and I end up with Fibromyalgia!
well I feel that way , some days are ok and others are worse. Today is better than yesterday.. This is a hard condition to wrap your head around!! I just went for a short walk so I will most likely be hurting by this afternoon. I am so sorry that any person has to go thru this.. Hope you have some great support, Pebbles.
Excuse me, whati s DDD. I am not familiar with this, at least I don't think I am. Sue
Sue, DDD is degenerative disc disease. It is exactly what it's name says. The discs in the spine degenerate, become thinner or crumbly and we lose support. It's very painful, with no cure. Many people have it.
Hi Pebbles. I think that 18 point thing will go by the way side some day. There has to be a better way to diagnose FMS and I want to believe it's just barely out of reach now, along with a cure. I think I had 14 or 15 of them when I was tested. When my doggies or kitty step anywhere on my legs when I'm in the recliner I about shoot out of the chair in pain. And oh, if you touch my hip joints...yee haw! Scream! There is so much more to fibro than those darned 18 points.
JeSSeBlue, Sorry to hear about your accidents. I was in a bad car accident, had back surgery, cared for my aging parents, helped care for 4 grandsons while their mom and dad carved out an addicts life for them, all while I was working full time. Body trauma and doing too much. I hear ya. Fibro Center said I was a text book case. Great, huh?
My pain comes and goes at the pressure points. Mostly it sticks around in my elbows and knees. And my back/tailbone/SI joint. And then it goes into other places too! Last week it was my knee caps, sliding out of joint. And my thumb started going out of joint too. And yes, you're right, the entire body feels like a pressure point. How do you really quantify the pain when it engulfs you? And some pain is always present.
So I'm not sure that the pressure point system really tells the story about fibro, and who has it and who doesn't.
Yes, in fact I wrote a thread on this topic and think I'll resurrect it. It's definitely worth an entire topic's worth of discussion.
