Alcohol intolerance?

I use to be able to drink. A lot. I would never get sick or have a hangover. Now, since I’ve gotten more and more sick, I can’t even finish one drink without all my muscles tensing up, getting dizzy and nauseas, and my anxiety going through the roof. Doesn’t matter what I drink. Has this happened to anyone else? Can fibromyalgia cause alcohol intolerance?

Hi Victoria. Yes, that is exactly how I experience it too. I used to love a glass of wine in the evenings. I have found that an alcoholic beverage of any kind makes my pain skyrocket and it's only helped by a good night sleep. I had an exception a couple of weeks ago. I went to a big fishermans festival/contest at the local watering hole (pub) with my husband and son. It was held outside. It was a lovely warm day. I had a beer and it didn't bother me at all. I have no idea why this one didn't hurt??? It was just one beer, but for some odd reason it made me feel victorious over fibro, for just a minute! LOL!

I don't know if it's the fibro itself or the interaction with meds we take. It will be interesting to see what others say.

Cheers,

LKitty

I used to be able to drink, but since fibro & an increase in my list of meds… Forget it ! One glass of wine & it feels like I had 6, headache , nausea, and hangover … Not worth it anymore, I think it’s the meds more than the fibro.
