When I drink, what's mainly affected is my legs. My upper leg muscles feel very tight. What types of negatives do you experience?
I can't drink because of my Lupus meds, so that eliminates this problem for me. ;)
I used to enjoy going out and seeing bands and having a few drinks.
Not only am I not up to it, but because of my meds, I too cannot drink anymore.
OCCASSIONALLY, I have a glass of Moscato D’asti but that’s about it and half the time I can’t finish the glass.
I do miss things that I used to do that I can’t anymore and that’s probably what I miss the most, going out with John and friends to see bands.
Tina,
Why can't you go out to see bands? I have had rheumatoid arthritis all my life and when we would go out to bars my friends and I would scout out a bar stool for me to have someplace to sit. Since I got tired early I always drove myself and would just leave when I became too tired. I do not think we always have to give up everything entirely. Sometimes just a few simple modifications will do, but I understand completely that even with adjustments, there are things we do need to walk away from. And that surely stinks. Hope you are feeling better today.

most if not all say flat out to not mix with alcohol....i have had really bad reactions where i got sick at rest/bar. i now only have half glass with Christmas dinner of some really nice wine...which i do miss but not enough to get sick over.
I never was one to drink a lot period as i did not like being out of control and it always made me sick...but than i had SLE most likely the doc say from my teens on up at least.
I grew up to where a lot of friends have access to excellent wines....and miss them but we always have like great meal we all go in and create....sometimes i will still join in just a tiny bit to see how it effects me. At most just half glass.
So i am lucky i guess that i never really enjoyed alcohol or even got people who needed to get high off it. Now a good wine with good food..complement one another and why i do enjoy them.
I mean just your question leads me to ask why drink if you have negatives? I know i sound like party pooper...but i have found you can have great time with out it!
Nothing I liked better than coming home from work on a hot summer day and having a cold beer (or two). Before I bbq supper. Sadly, most of the time now it makes me feel sick, so basically I gave it up. I miss the social time out too, but now I just don't want to go because I'm just too tired. I never take pain meds when I have a drink, bad idea. But no nothing physically happens to my legs or anything. Hope you get some answers. Charlie :)
I get more pain and fatigue in my shins and thighs. Sometimes to the point where i have to sit down and breathe through the pain. It sucks for sure. Oh also heaviness is my arms.
I stopped drinking because I experienced these throbbing pains all through my legs. I was afraid, so I decided to stop the liquor.
I rarely imbibe, I find that if I even have one glass of wine or a mixed drink, my arms and legs feel heavy and weak at the same time. Also at first I will feel drowsy but then later it acts as a stimulant and my heart races if I even get up from a chair, I just have to lay or sit down several hours til that effect wears off. I might have half a glass of champagne once a year at most and that's it! I don't miss drinking, I've done plenty of it when I was young so it's out of my system (no pun intended). : )
