Omg three times have i tried to sort that fibro fog lol!
Better keep it short and sweet this time lol
Thanks robin! So excited! Xox
LOL, Jo! Now I'm picturing you with seagulls perched on your pregnant tummy! And they are greedy suckers, so hide your treats!
You are extremely brave giving up all of your meds - which is needed for the baby - and I admire your courage and good cheer despite this. I think your babe will be a tough little fighter too, just like his mum!
I'm doing ok - fibro has really gotten a lot worse this year, but it's not winter right now, and I'm no longer working; two good things to help with the fibro pain.
Do you know if you're getting a boy JoeJoe or a girl JoJo? And how is Simon doing? He must be over the moon too! (It's good that you waited for the right one, Joe. A keeper is worth waiting for.)
Bless all three if you.
Congrats! My advice is to eat a super nutritious diet. Avoid refined carbs and processed foods. And eat tons of fruits and veggies (fresh and organic if at all possible). Your body will use the nutrition it needs for your baby first, so it is super important that you are getting enough nutrition to cover both of you. Eat a variety of colors with the fruits and veggies to help ensure a wide variety of vitamins, minerals and antioxidants.
Congrats Jo and please keep us up to date or even start a blog about being pregnant with fibromyalgia
Yes it’s got to be done hasn’t it. Already came off most of my meds then just dropped my new pain patches. Must be mental! Lol.
Sorry to hear you’re much worse. I remember you got your disability which was great news and were able to give up your job and take care of yourself. It gets so much harder when you run yourself into the ground don’t you?
This country as you know is running it’s own nasty scam now and denying genuinely sick people the help they need. But it’s been so good to hear that yours is getting a lot better.
I only found out I was pregnant on tues so will go to the doctors on Monday now I have time. I have mixed feelings about many docs so just a routine(ish) thing. I know he will be smug about me not having any meds. Trying not to say any naughty words here lol.
Simons been great and just being perfect as always. I’m so blessed now aren’t I? Oh btw do you want to come over for the wedding next year? Was hoping on April but need to move it forward now lol xx
Yay you are such a good girl! I love my fresh fruit and veg so getting plenty. I need a balanced diet so chocolate is a must too. Lol. No I’ve actually gone off it a bit which is very very weird for me. It’s strawberry or toffee things at the mo.
But healthy body / healthy mind!
Aw thank you! I could do couldn’t I. Still not totally sunk in yet lol
I do allow myself a couple of squares of dark chocolate every day or so. I've just got to learn to not have it too late in the day or it keeps me awake at night.
That is very interesting. I hope that is the case here soon. I am struggling quite a bit now without the meds. Thanks Dottie! Gentle hugs xx
Good stuff! Hopefully will help with the energy levels too. Thanks girls!
I wish I had your will power. Mind you I have gone off my chocloate now which is not like me. I’m sure I will make up for it at some point.
If I eat milk chocolate, I always generally want more and more. I think it's something with the sugar. Although I've had the sugar cut out of my diet for so long now that in June I was going to split a milk chocolate Hersey Bar with my daughter and it seemed so sweet I could hardly eat my half. It really shocked me how much my taste for sweets had changed.
With dark chocolate, I can't eat that much; and I find that a couple of squares is plenty to satisfy my taste for chocolate.
Congratulations Jo ! I can’t speak about fibro and pregnancy as I got fibro after I had children. I have heard that some women find that their symptoms subside while pregnant. Wouldn’t that be wonderful ?! Wish you much luck and of course a healthy, happy baby !

Yes I have cut my carbs out of my diet before but still ate fruit. Just got rid of bread, pasta, rice, potatoes etc because for one too many calories for such boring food. Then when I had my treat days I used to be so ill. It’s like your body gets used to the new diet and freaks out when you change it again.
I had some chocolate last night to cheer me up because the lack of Meds has hit me hard now and been laid out for days. But it didnt help. Just made me feel more ick. Sort of a blessing in disguise lol.
It’s better for the fibro to be really good with our diets but so boring if you don’t treat yourself sometimes.
For the past 2 years I have eaten a no-added oil (at least very minimal) whole-foods, plant-based diet. My only cheat on the animal protein is that tiny little bit of milk in the dark chocolate. It is far from boring! I enjoy food so much more now and preparing it!
I've dropped 40 lbs. of excess weight without trying. My tastes changed so I no longer crave sugar and other junk food. My health has improved so drastically that I am close to proclaiming that I am fibro-free after 20+ years. (28 years of chronic pain if you count the car-accident pain prior to the fibro.) I'm even going to the gym now to work out and my muscles are not responding in the typical angry fibro reacting way! I am able to get out of bed the next day with no trouble and go back to the Y again! I am getting my life back!
Yes this is a vegan diet, but I don't refer to it that way because vegan does not necessarily equate to healthy. There is lots of junk food out there that is vegan, some of it made especially for vegans. Also lots of vegan processed foods that I won't touch. There is plenty of protein and calcium in the plants. It is just important to remember to eat a rainbow of fruits and vegetables to get the full spectrum of vitamins and other nutrients.

From the May-Clinic website: "A well-planned vegetarian diet can meet the needs of people of all ages, including children, teenagers, and pregnant or breast-feeding women. The key is to be aware of your nutritional needs so that you plan a diet that meets them." http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/vegetarian-diet/HQ01596

A final note -- there are plenty of recipes out there for very satisfying healthy treats that fit the whole-foods, plant-based diet.
Sorry that got so long. Just thought you might like to have some options to check out!
That’s really good isn’t it?! Thanks for all the info and links. A plant baseddiet would also be very low in calories making the pounds fly off so quickly too.
I will have a good read up on that although I must be honest I do struggle on vegan diets.
I am so pleased for you though that this diet has helped you so much. It is really important to eat well with fibro.
Congrats to you!!! When I was preg, my sister said that fibro doesn’t act up… It settles for the time being, but
Once after birth, it can come back… Just sleep when baby sleeps… Relax…
Reading up on it first is a very good idea, especially since you are pregnant. This will also help you to know which foods are the most nutrient dense.
It is also important to know that many fruits and vegetables help your body detoxify. If you make very sudden and drastic changes, this process can happen very quickly and cause a person to feel worse before they feel better. For this reason it can be a good idea to transition into it over a period of time. It also helps you get used to mentally figuring out and adjusting to the changes. I found Dr. Neal Barnard's 21 day kickstart very helpful. There are a couple of different books and he has a website. Now some of this is focused on weight loss, which you should not be focused on right now, but he has a great transition plan. A final note here for everyone -- many people are lacking in Vit B-12 (even those eating meat) , but it is vital for anyone on a plant-based diet to take a B-12 supplement.
