Anyone else

Have a tick on them before they got sick?I have seen it on the news several times now thatba lot of fibro patients. actually. have lymes disease.

Hello Hanging on,

Wow, what good timing you have! I just got bit by a tick today. I was *so* mad! Does that darn tick want to give me Lymes disease on top of fibro??

I honestly don't know if fibro and lymes are related or not. My sister got lymes two summers ago. In two weeks time, she went from being a very healthy person to someone who was unable to get up out of bed. By the second week, she was deathly pale and was babbling nonsensically. She was so bad that I honestly thought she was going to die. I was really freaked out and brought her to the doctor who diagnosed lymes and put her on the medicine right away. In one more week's time, my sister was back to her old, healthy self.

I have also been bitten by a tick several years ago. Here in Massachusetts there seem to be mazzillions of deer and deer ticks. I have no idea if I have lymes disease from the old tick bite. I had a lymes test done and it was negative. I've heard they aren't accurate but both my doctor and rheumatologist insist they are if you have them a few weeks after the initial tick bite.

So where does that leave us? Darned if i know! I do suggest that you get a Lymes test done, though. If you do test positive, you'll go through a pretty intense course of medicine.

PS: Ticks love to nestle into skin folds - under breasts, under armpits, on necks, chests, arms, etc. And they can be as tiny as a dot of a pencil - like this - . - I was going to include a photo for easy reference but I made the mistake of going to the images and got incredibly grossed out by them!!! And ever since finding one on me today, I've been feeling like I have bugs or cooties running up and down me. It's my imagination but OMG, soooooooooo gross! I wish everyone on here a summer free of these revolting things.

Don’t take any chances. If you’ve been bite here in florida you can buy antobiotics now without a script. You just have to sign for it,the pharmisist will know which ones to give you…Do it. please, bye wayne

Wow, seriously? I'm gonna call my doctor and ask for the penacillin. I wish it had happened when I was in Florida recently, as it sounds so much easier down there.

Thanks for you're input, Wayne.

I tested positive last year but my NP at the time said it was a false positive...then the CDC called and asked me to repeat it and I told them what my NP told me and they said "oh, okay" have a nice day.

Needless to say, when I changed physicians I recalled the Lyme "false positive" and she repeated it for a "negative" and told me this happens quite often. So should I be okay with Any of this?

The symptoms are quite similar to Fibro so the test gets run almost automatically here in Michigan. I find ticks on myself and grandchildren all summer long. They are everywhere where we live and play so tick checks are a part of daily living...on the pets as well because they go further into the woods on a daily basis to do their business and usually bring what the woods has to offer in the way of tics back here to share with us.

If you know you've been bit, call you physician right away for treatment.

Finally Summer up here in the Northwoods and here come the bugs! UGH!
