I was reading today about how artificial sweetener poisoning could cause fibro and similar symptoms. Is there anyone here besides me using these and what are your thoughts? I’m seriously considering going back to pure good old sugar even though I need to lose at least 15 lbs.
what are other foods that could cause flare ups?
This is what I read if I can get it to attach here

Hi Jeanette and Welcome to the group! I am not really a food expert but I have been cutting down / out most caffeine and artificial sweeteners over the past few months. I do feel a little benefit I think, but it is hard to tell for sure as I have made some other changes at the same time. I know some other members have more knowledge in food / diets for fibro and can chime in. Hugs!
Hi Jeanette and welcome. I'm a newby as well. I am also a Diabetic so I do use artificial sweeteners, it would be tough not to. Though I do not use them like crazy. It seems that every other minute there is something new that you hear about that is bad for you so you really do not know what to listen to anymore. If you listen to them all, you can't have anything.
My motto is everything is ok in moderation.

Hi Jeanette,
I have heard that artificial sweeteners are bad for people but have not heard of any relation to that and fibro (other than the link you uploaded ). I do not like the taste of artificial sweeteners so I don't use them and I have fibro bad so I'm not sure if there is a relation to that but for me I know it's not true....and nothing that I know of for myself that causes flares as far as food but I know everyone is different and that's just me so I'm guessing some foods for some people causes issues. It's a great topic for discussion thanks for bringing it up.

I found this on web md and no several people who have kept a food journal and have altered their diet with great results always rember we are all different and what works for one may not work for others. Speak with your doctor about any changes you would like to make.
I have found that I cannot consume diet drinks that have aspartame in them. I discovered that I really liked the taste of Dr Pepper 10 & before I knew it, I was drinking a can per day. I had a fibro flare that was lasting way longer than normal & I was trying to figure out the trigger. I read that some folks with FMS cannot tolerate aspartame. So I just quit buying anything that had it in it. I am trying to cut out all the artificial sweeteners & heavily processed foods. Being a Southern gal, I really like sweet iced tea & it is what I miss the most!
