I don’t know about ya’ll, but barometric pressure changes is my absolute worst pain. It turns a 5 into an 11 in minutes. My Percocet can’t even touch it. Especially in my spine. I just tried putting an ice pack on my spine and it helps some. According to what all I’ve read, the pressure changes cause your body fluids to expand, making the pain worse.
Penelope, I agree. I have the same problem and I have read the same reason for it. We all need to move to St. Croix, live on the beach with my sister and enjoy the warm temps and sunshine 24/7, 365!
Oh yes Penelope, barometric changes cause widespread pain for those with fibro and/or arthritis. There is no escaping this. You have to ride it out with pain meds and heat or ice and hope it will dull the pain some.
I am what my dictionary calls meteorosensitive. So... yes, I can agree. Usually, I handle mild to cool weather better than heat. but the changes are hard on me. When "water is coming" (meaning when clouds appear or when it is going to rain/snow) I often get headaches and my muscles start to tense and/or cramp up.
The cold of winter usually means I'll be stiff as hell and blind as a bat XD Somehow, I think the cold makes my eyeballs shrink or something.
When it's too warm, I often become dizzy and in general, I don't handle heat well. I'm best with a sunny 18-20 degrees XD
So to make a rambly post short...
yes, I've had my experiences with weather-related pains and symptoms.
We have summers that stay at 100 degrees or higher, plus humidity. That sucks the energy out of me like the wicked witch having water thrown on her.
Plus tornados. We’ve had 2 really mild winters without much snow, but 19 degrees is 19 degrees! It’s the changing that hurts so bad…Will Rogers said “if you don’t like the weather here, just wait a minute .” So true!
If anyone wins the lottery, please build a huge compound in a nice climate for all of us!
I'm extremely sensitive to changing weather. I can feel a storm coming about 12 hours in advance. Pain gets horrible in my spine, and my fibro fog gets reallly bad. Usually means I end up in bed. Once the storm passes, I start to feel okay again. And of course, I live in Oregon, where it rains constantly. I have a feeling this is going to be a bad winter for me.
I can get in on this! My Chiropractor told me it is the LOW pressure that causes the body to expand and 'thump'. My worse experience with this is when hurricane Sandy blew past here, and you seldom hear the meterologists talk about the pressure, well they were that day, because of how quickly it kept dropping.
Right now it is the holiday pressure slamming me! My grandson came to help decorate, and is now on the couch under 'Pepto care' from too may cookies, too much candy. So much for my help! So much for my rest. Oh well, it will get done!
