I had been having a lot of trouble with my back and hip my ortho surgeon decided not to do surgery yet and sent me to a chiropractor today. The visit was a lot different than I expected he has a program for people with lupus and fibro every thing from diet to exercise. Does anyone see a chiropractor on a regular bases and has it helped?
I really like my chiropractor, but insurance pays a very limited amount each year so I don't get to see him often. He does not have a specialized treatment for fm. But, even just being adjusted is helpful to me. Maybe not others.
I think this one you've found sounds great. I hope he's not trying to sell you some expensive packaged foods or something. We all would be really interested to know what his treatment consists of. It's not often you find a chiropractor that has a specific treatment for fibromyalgia.
Another thing to think about is avoiding surgery. I know that some doc's won't do surgery on fibro people because recovery can take us down to a point of no return. This is what I have read. I'm sure everyone is different. I think your ortho is wise to refer you to this chiropractor.
Let's see what others think! Good luck to you Purplebutterfly.

Hi Purplebutterfly!
Oh yes, my DC has kept me on my feet for many a year, he has helped me and continues to help me on so many levels! I cannot speak highly enough of him and his expertise!
I am impressed that an ortho surgeon would send you to a DC, most are closed minded about DCs, unjustifiably so! You have a smart Ortho there!
I hope that you get as much relief from your DC as I have from mine, I would have been in a wheel chair long ago if not for mine! I swear by him!
Wishing you well,
SK
He also saved my husband's life, because of the area of the pain my husband was experiencing, my DC sent him to have his prostate checked, turns out he had prostate cancer, we got this news 10 days before our wedding, the day he started radiation, I was rear ended. That was the car accident I could never get over, and years later was diagnosed with autoimmune! It was a rough year, but we made it, he has made such a difference in our lives! We have never had Insurance that covered his care, but gladly pay out of pocket for him!
Thank you for your replies. I will let you no next after I see him again what the plan of care is.
I love my chiropractor. Don't know what I'd do without him.
Ohh a chiropractor is the only thing that has ever really helped me with the pain! There have been minor helps like antidepressants but wow the chiropractor! I am jealous!
