Hi all, I spent yesterday in the company of family and friends at a local small festival. I didn’t do anything energetic, just a couple of short walks and basically sat around chatting and listening to music and I didn’t touch any alcohol as I was driving.
I woke up this morning feeling like ive done 10 rounds with Mike Tyson!!! I feel more stiff than usual, really achy and a banging head! It was a really sunny day yesterday and just wondered if that could be the cause of feeling so ill?
Hi Curly Lou,
This is not something typical with fibro, not to my knowledge, we do sometimes suffer light sensitivity, but that should have happened right away. Your profile did not mention any meds, some meds will cause you to have ill affects with exposure to sunlight. Be sure you tell the Rheumatologist about this, it could be pointing in another direction. If there is any kind of rash from the sun, make sure you take a photo and take it to the Dr, especially if on your face.
Fibro just seems to be one surprise after the other, who can say? Hopefully the Doctor! I hope this passes soon, I'm sure that you want to be out and about, especially with your little one!
I hope this ill feeling leaves quickly and never returns. Take good care of yourself, keep us in the loop, please let us know how it goes with the Rheumatologist!
Wishing you well,
SK
Hi SK, yes I saw the rheumatologist. Ive started to take Dihydrocodeine. They make me a bit fuzzy but they have been helping. However I didn’t take any yesterday until I got home as they can make you drowsy and I didn’t fancy falling asleep whilst in company! Haha. The rheumatologist also did some tests for lupus when I saw him, so still waiting on those results x
I have read that sun is helpful for fibro. In fact the suggestion of tanning beds has been mentioned. The warmth is beneficial to our muscles.
The sun makes me really sick I go through the same thing when it’s hot out.
I'm not sure about that BUT lupus is definitely affected by sunlight. Lupus is an autoimmune illness, and autoimmune illnesses often occur in people with fibro. Have you been tested for lupus? Sometimes people can test negative for it but then positive at a later date, especially if you spend time out in the sun. So it might be worth looking into, especially if this happens to you more than once.
Hi Curly Lou, I find that sunshine not only makes me feel better mentally, but the warmth from the sun also helps me physically as it seems to reduce both the pain and fatigue. My husband has Lupus and being in the sun for any length of time along with hot weather can make him quite ill even though he is basically in remission. Hopefully the reaction is due to some type of medication you’re taking as Lupus is pretty scary.
Is it possible that the cause is taking the Dihydrocodeine at a different time or that you may have suffered from sunstroke or become dehydrated. I would check this out with your doctor.so you can enjoy the summer.
Hope you are already feeling better and that you determine the cause of the illness.
I’m currently awaiting results for Lupus so will let you all know as soon as I get them back. Thanks all
Hi Curly Lou. Wow, the responses all point toward lupus! Well, right off the bat when I read your post I thought, oh yeah, that's me. I am very much effected by the sun. I can take the morning sun or the shade on a sunny day, but come summer, the heat sucks everything out of me and weakens me for a day or two. I have to be careful in the summer. Was it a warm day?
Me too Amberlyn! I used to love the sun and now I hide from it. I think getting a little sun early in the day is the key to getting some natural vitamin D, so I try to go outside during the morning hours in summer.
Hugs,
LKitty
Just wanted to add something about the alcohol. Oh, I love wine. But, I can't drink it at all anymore. My whole body hurts before I finish one glass. I don't know if that is common for fibro people. Could be just me. But it might be a good thing you opted out.
I sure am glad you had that fun time with others though! That's something we don't get enough of. Hopefully thinking of the good times had will help you get through this painful period.
Hugs,
LKitty
Yes it was really hot. I know exactly what you mean about wine too. I hardlydrink alcohol now as I feel in so much pain the next day, not a hangover feeling but the usual fibro aches and pains times 10!
