Painful Skin

what a horrible day!!! I should’ve stayed in bed…my skin is sooooo painful like a severe sunburn and the tissue hurts to touch even gently. Wondering if anyone else has had this… Is this Fibro… I’m newly diagnosed so not sure what’s going on. I also have Lupus and just got off 6 days of steroids … Any suggestions or thoughts ??? After looking through my journal this is the 2nd time this has happened after getting off a steroid pack.

Half of my medication has warnings on it that they make me sensitive to sunlight. As soon as I walk into direct sunlight I am in burning pain. Why can't I just sparkle in sunlight and not burst into flames? :)

Hello Michelle,

Sorry to hear you have had a horrible day, gentle hugs to you. I have not experienced this personally, maybe other members can help. But if this is a new symptom, I urge you to go to your Doc. Hope you get relief soon.

Take care, Anne

Hi Michelle, this definitely can be a symptom of Fibro but you should always check with your doctor. I empathize with you, this happens to me as well periodically. A couple of weeks ago I had a few bad days with sensitive skin. It can feel like every nerve ending is on fire almost. One thing I have found that helps is to take a warm / hot Epsom salt bath, it seems to soothe a little. I also have Epsom salt lotion I apply as well. Other than that, I just try to keep distracted and also not rub into things if I can help it. Usually a good night sleep will help it go away for me. Hang in there, I am sending you hugs.

Yes, I also suffer from sore skin, mine doesn't happen that often. It does hurt. Hope it goes away soon. Gentle hugs. Cindy. H.

all the best and

Hi Michelle-

Yes it's fibro. I've had this off and on since onset, and I have it right now, and it's awful! I think I will just stop wearing bras...they are THAT bad. I need the softest of soft loose clothes, no seams. I turn my clothes inside out when this is going on, which does help.

You know what else, is sometimes my hearing gets super sensitive and the TV, any sounds really sound so loud and have a sharpness, it actually hurts. Normally I have some hearing loss plus tinnitus (ringing), so hearing well is not my problem. I have read that both of these are fibro symptoms. Can't remember where but I definitely did. You could do a google search I'm sure.

My experience is that is lasts anywhere from 2 days to a week at most then goes away till next time which can be months.

Hope this helps.

Lis

PS if anyone out there knows an alternative to bras let me know!

LOL...sparkle...I love it! Unfortunately, more often that not I feel like I have no spark at all. I am also very sensitive to the sun. I have to have the darkest of glasses and practically hibernate during the summer.

I'm sure you will appreciate the pic-

Liz
