Hi, I’ve just found this site after years of suffering alone. I won’t give you my life history at the mo, but just asking the question if anyone else has had this painful skin thing. From my waist down to just above my knee it feels tender and sore and kind of prickly but nothing to see. It’s agony against clothes and hurts even if I don’t move ?
Yes, I’ve had painful skin. Not every day, but too often. Just last week in fact. Sometimes it affects a small area, like the side of my finger or wrist, and is a sharp, stabbing pain. Sometimes the pain is spread out over an area like my shoulder, side, or hip and feels like a seriously bad sunburn. It often precedes a flare.
I too have had it in smaller areas, just never had it in this large an area before…
I’m sorry the area is so big. You must be miserable.

I have this too. It’s my upper body that’s effected. It started in my shoulder blade area has spread up to my neck and head and down to my lower back area. It keeps spreading. Somedays I can’t wear a bra or anything tight. It can’t be too loose either. I hope you’re feeling better.
Hi I sure hope you are feeling better. The painful skin (thought to be nerve pain) can be very exasperating. I find that sometimes a warm bath with Epson salt will help. Also if I have an area that isn’t that large sometimes using an ice pack for a few minutes can soothe it. I think the main thing is to try and find what might work. What works one time might not work the next (one of the “fun” things about Fibro) but I have learned to just keep trying. I also try to find correlation between environment and symptoms. Sometimes that will help me in the future. Hang in there. Sending gentle hugs.
Hi my name is Mockingbird. A new study thinks it is short fiber nerves causing pain. Previously Drs thought the nerves did nothing. Theses nerves are all through the body and cause all kinds of problems.
