I have fibro plus arthritis in my spine, and other back stuff. I also have all tile floors at home. I need comfortable, super shock absorbing shoes! And not just at home, everywhere! Wondering if anyone has ones they love? Sandals and/ or regular shoes. I’ve used Crocs Athens (getting hard to find) & Fit Flops both pretty cushy tho the latter bother the tops of my feet and haven’t found any regular or gym/running shoes helpful. Thanks in advance!!
hi. my daughter bought me the memory foam sketchers sneakers and i feel like i am walking on a cloud. she also bought my hubby the skhetchers sandles that he wears in the house and he says they are so super comfy. i may also suggest that there are alot of good inserts to put in shoes or sneakers that you already like. best of luck
I too have the Skechers memory foam sneakers and I love them! I even bought a second pair this week. I wear them all the time, outdoors and in the house. We have hard wood floors and I have noticed my pain increase a ton in my lower back and legs since installing it. I too have fibro and arthritis in my lower back, hips, knees and ankles. I now wear my sneakers when I am at home and it helps. I am going to have to find some kind of memory foam sandals for the summer when we got boating.
After reading the replies, I think I will have to give those a try also. I bought a pair of Asics, which I love and wear a lot. But would love to have different shoes besides those. Glad you asked the question, now I have some options also.
Fibro has left me with neuropathic pain in both of my feet. I cannot wear anything but sneakers and I cannot walk barefoot at all. I have tried MANY different kinds of sneakers and wasted plenty of money in the process and I have found nothing feels as good on my feet as Saucony Jazz Originals, not the Low Pro, but the original. An alternative is also Reebok Originals, but they are heavier as they are leather uppers.
I know this is going to sound weird, but hubby bought me a pair of Birkenstock's (while we were just dating!). The bed of the shoes mold to fit your feet. The bed of the shoe is pre-molded to support under your toes which helps me with balance issues. I use to have to work in a place that had marble tile EVERYWHERE. The only shoes that I could stand to use and stand for 8 hours on that stuff were the Birkenstock's. My back never gave me problems when I could wear them to work. They aren't cheap and may feel a bit stiff and uncomfortable at first, but if you can get past that and wear them long enough for them to mold to your foot, they're wonderful. And as I said, I've noticed they help stabilize me when I have balance issues and also bouts of vertigo because the bed of the shoe goes partially up the side of my foot and is very stable. Hope this helps!
Wow, Sketchers, it is! LOL! See, I tried on memory foam sandals and I thought the way the memory foam collapses, which it's suppose to do to mold to your foot sorta left my foot still hitting the hard spots with no cush since it moves. Don't get me wrong, I love my memory foam pillows and bed, but I wanted more resistance against the hard floor. However, I obviously need to revisit those! I will definitely check those out. And the Saucony Jazz. Thanks guys! I'll keeo watching for more!
Oh, has anyone tried the new sandals out called Vionics? They are super expensive $60, but are supposed to align your feet & legs properly and therefore help the back.
Hi Shatosa-I had Birkenstocks in the 70's...remember them well! Yes, they were very comfortable when they mold to your foot, like you said. Hadn't thought about those in years! Will check that out-Thanks!
I love sketchers, I always buy the walking sneakers. Great support for the hard floor. But I still can't stand or walk on them for more than a couple of hours. There are those Gellin inserts that lift you up a bit in your shoe. They are pretty comfy for a while. Good luck.
