I need to ask someone a question,

since I cant take pain meds, the doctor wants to do "acupuncture" cant spell it. HAs anyone else had this and did it help.

Hi missyhoah!

I did have acupuncture and it helped with the pain. As I was driving home from my first session, I was thinking that I felt a bit strange. Then I realized I had no pain! I had gotten so used to it that its absence was noticeable.

The only problem I encountered with acupuncture is that the effects wore off in about 3 days. That means repeated visits. I have seen other posts on acupuncture that mention the same time frame.

I had to stop because it was $$$, but oh, it was so relaxing as well as effective. Can you get it covered by insurance? That will help with the chronic expense.

Hugs,

Scribelle

Hi missyjoah,

After my last car accident, long before the dx of autoimmune and fibro were made, I went to the acupuncturist for about a year. It did help, very much, but like Scribelle said, it lasts about 3 days. I also went to the Chiropractor. Unfortunately I have never had Insurance coverage for either.

I still go to the Chiro when I need him, but have not been back to acupuncture.

I hope it helps, and if you have to pay out of pocket, ask if they have a special rate for you! Never hurts to ask!

Wishing you well,

SK

I love acupuncture. If you are lucky you may be able to find one who does light massage work after the treatment. Scribelle is right, the treatments don't last long initially. My experience has been that if I go once a week for awhile, or maybe twice a week to start, then I can taper down to every other week. It does require maintenance, but I prefer it to narcotic pain relievers. Another thing that I think is key is trying to keep your afternoon toned down after your treatment. Seems to help the benefits stick around.

Try it!

Missyjoah,

crynsugar is a nurse, so is our member Marygrace, also a nurse, who also takes LDN. I know that she would also be glad to talk to you about this too!

Should my traditional meds ever fail me for some reason, I keep LDN as my back-up plan!

Is it ok to take if you’re pregnant? I’ve never heard of it before Crynsugar. Sorry. I’ll do some research xx

Hi Crynsugar. You have got me very excited. I see a new fibro NP in August. According to her web page, she prescribes and uses LDN. The research I have done on this drug since you began talking about it has proven very positive. My son who has crohn's will be willing to give it a try after I have. It's refreshing to know of it. Thank you.
