Ask your dr. for Lyrica, along with maybe Tramadol, and an anti-inflammatory med. Try avoiding caffeine in large amounts, sugary foods, and stretching exercises, plus heat compresses. Warm showers may help. I pray you'll feel better soon.
Hi Sk8ter,
Thinking of you today, wondering how you are feeling? We are all pulling for you!
Hey Skater how are you doing? Have not heard anything for awhile?? I went fly fishing with a very good friend of mine tonight. We caught some HUGE bluegill, they taste so good when they are that fresh. I hurt from it, but it was worth it. Haven't hung out with him for over a year, nor have I fished since this spring. I finally decided I am NOT giving up hunting and fishing. I may only go 1 time a week, but I am going. Keep your chin up. If you need to talk call me day or night at 812-■■■■■■■■. I dont sleep much, imagine that. Just worried about you.
Brian, good for you for going flyfishing and for your decision to do it once a week. I'm glad you were able to do it.
Hey Brian!
So glad to hear you went fishing! That is a great way to destress, and bluegills are indeed good eating! So glad that you are hanging on tight to the things you love most, with me, it is having the grandkids!
We all need something to keep us going! Hope Sh8ter is out on the rink!
Wishing you well,
SK
Skater, just re-read your letter and it's so very sad. Here you are blaming yourself for everything, when it's the illness. It's NOT your fault, it's this awful illness!
Have you considered applying for disability? SSDI has just accepted fibro as a disability so you should be able to qualify.
Just do the best that you can. Our "best" is different than other people's. And that's simply the way it is. Our bodies stop us from doing many, many things but we don't have to give up on life. Modify your life. That's the key. Find things that don't kill you or stress you to the limit. Rest a lot. Work with a good doctor. Take your meds. Rest some more. Be good to yourself.
Please let us know how you're doing. I hope the wisdom here in these letters has helped you.
Thanks. A buddy and I needed to reconnect and let by gones be by gones. I have not been since this spring with my father in law. Its been to hot this summer and the water is way down which makes it extra harder to go. Life is to short to loose your best friend over this damn fibro. I have met alot of people on craigslist that are willing to help me get outside and be the outdoorsman I am. There are still good people in this world. Has anyone heard from Skater? I am really worried about her.
I agree, and on good days, go Sk8te! Hope that is where you have been!
I know brian, yours is so much more than fibro, your back injury is very serious, it is most likely what caused it. According to my Rheumy it is caused by chronic pain. You could write the book on the pain! So glad you rose above it to enjoy some of your life and loves! Glad you and your best bud hooked up again! OBTW, you are very fortunate to have such a good wife, appreciate her often! Just a tip from a wise old bird!
Good to hear from you!
SK
