Is it fibro fog or beginning of alzheimer's?

Hi everybody,

I have Fibro fog when it comes to remembering words or things like my zip code and it is getting worse. I am starting to think, what if this is the beginning of Alzheimer's? Seriously, I have to stop in the middle of a sentence because I can't remember the word I want to use. Now, I am really getting scared! Please let me know if this has ever happened to you. I really would appreciate anybody's comments.

Gentle Hugs, Tawny

Tawny,

Yes... I think it is Fibro Fog... i have it....... I make reservations for people at a hotel.. and I will be in the middle of the reservation and forget the persons name, what date.. etc... its take me about 30 seconds to get my bearings.. it is soooo embarassing sometimes.... it makes me afraid that I may lose my job...

What helps me.. I try to do memory games all the time.. so it keeps my brain functioning.. it is funny .. but it works... lol

Take care hon, hang in there...

If you would like to ... you can message me.. and we can chat...

Karen

Tawny … Sounds like fibro fog to me as well…Before I phone someone, I’m always writing down all the points I need to make, including my own address and phone number just in case I forget it during the conversation. In conversations, particularly with my husband and friends, I sometimes say “you know that thingy which you use to do such and such”. I find it comes and goes. Now that I’m older I just refer to it as a “grey” moment, although I’ve been doing it for years.

Gentle hugs

HI Tawnycat,

I have asked my Rheumatologist about this very thing, memory, retention, recall, walking into a room for something and not remembering what you went there for, not remembering how old you are, forgetting what you are talking about in mid sentence.

His response was "pain, chronic pain and lack of sleep from chronic pain".

Don't worry so much, it'll make your memory worse. I forget what I was even talking about in the middle of a sentence. Can't spell, and have gotten lost driving to places I've been many times. It is very upsetting! You should check with your doc, but I was tested, (sort of), and it's just fibro. Good luck Tawny, hugs, Charlie :)

Hi Tawny, yup I have the same problem, it’s crazy !! I will be in the middle of a sentence and can’t think of the simplest word , or someone will ask me a question & I know the ans but can’t recall it, I forget my own age all the time, and have to figure it out from my DOB , wow !!!
I think SK is right, it has to do with the constant pain & fatigue we battle everyday !!
Sometimes it gets scary and I step back & think about what am I doing this week to manage the stress, bec it does get worse when stress is high, & the stress is 8x out of 10 from the pain, fatigue & frustration we live with.
Best book I ever bought- prescription for nutritional healing, by Phyllis Balch, so I do take supplements for brain power, I think they help, but everyone is different, one things for sure your not alone on this one
Hugs & blessings
