Let's talk about stretching

Omg that sounds horrid! I don’t really understand much about the kidneys but it sounds painful. I hope what you are trying starts to work so you can feel better.

Hi Tiffany,

I swim and I did do Tai Chi for a time. My main problem is because I was used to being on the go nearly 13 hours a day, I push myself to try and do as much as possible and then suffer horribly afterward. The pain management clinic have suggested I limit my exercise as I am in an almost constant flare up.. I think the effects of fibre, though we all share a main group of symptoms, is still ver individual when it comes down to the nitty gritty.

I hope this answers your question? I don't mind answering questions :-)

Hi Bunnybumps,

I think a lot of our problem is with the what we remember our bodies doing and our "now" bodies. I enjoy my swimming but because of the lo impact, as usual, I over do things and suffer as a result. I have trouble limiting myself.

Another dancer :-). Ballet?

I can swim and enjoy it very much, but as I only do it in the summer's it's not enough! I don't want to wet my head and deal with the cold and I have long and healthy hair and won't use a blow drier as this will give me split ends. I use a mask and snorkel when I swim as turning my head to breath and the compensatory arching of the spine causes back pain, as a motor vehicle accident was the incipient cause of the chronic pain that led to the FM.I don't think the FM was about previously being in shape. I think it came about because all my life I've tried too hard to achieve things and relied on my Kidney Chi to get me thru. After two major psychological blows ia relative short time, and 10 years of chronic and severe back pain from a car accident, my kidney hormonal balance finally gave out on me and I went into dysregulation. The irony is I'm an alternative physician who used to treat this problem with a good degree of success. I've been so out of it for the past year that I could only just about lay in bed and wonder what the next step could be! I'm starting to mobilize a bit more lately and am able to do more, so I'm slowly starting to try to heal myself. The problem is Kidney Chi is all about "trying" so, I can't really "try" too hard or I have a setback.LOL I really have to "take it very, very easy" Stress is my greatest enemy.

I understand doing and going until you can’t anymore. But ya, you are going to pay for that afterwards! If you feel good you want to do all the things that need to be done. Because of my daughters disability I have learned to be on a schedual. What HAS to be done NOW…is. All the rest unfortunately gets neglected at times. It’s not how I like to do things but right now it has to be this way. I hate the slowing down or having to change what I wanted to be done that day. That was really hard for me because I am kind of a spaz at times. However, it makes the ebb and flow of daily life much better. For her, for me. So maybe you can apply a little of that restraint into your days. I don’t like the word “limit” so use the word schedual. If you have a Monday filed with work or exercise, try to make a conscious decision to do slower activities the next day. If you have to see family and that stresses you out, plan for alone time or whatever relaxes you for the next. Hopefully that will help. I think it is worth mentioning that when you carve time out for yourself, you begin to really look forward to it. It’s a reward for all the hard work. We have to teach ourselves how to relax if its not happening naturally or getting screwed up because of pain. A good Question to ask ourselves in the morning is, “Less steps or more steps today?” Forgive yourself when there are less, and congratulate yourself when there are more.

I love to hear that yoga stretches are helping another person with aches and pains! I have found Hatha yoga to be my very favorite. It helps me so much and I can tell a big difference when I don't do it. Keep up the hard work!

Hot bath with lot of Epsom salt in it. You soak in it and it removes toxins. http://www.wikihow.com/Take-a-Detox-Bath
