Just sharing...I've been doing yoga for about 4-5 months now (a few times a week). It really helps me with my Fibro. It's not like I can stop other therapies (ie medication) but it definitely helps me to feel better. I have even done yoga when in the midst of a terrible flare up and it surprisingly did help to ease the muscle pain and spasms that I was experiencing. I actually walked away from that session feeling better than before I went it. At this point I can't imagine not doing the yoga because it helps my muscles to relax - something that I simply cannot do on my own. It's like it somehow purges the stress in my body. For anyone who has been considering yoga as an option I would very much recommend it.
Hi. Thank you for sharing. What type of yoga do you do? I went to one a couple months ago and it was too intense. Is it in a warm/heated room?

Hi Heather,
I actually don't know what kind of yoga it is. I'm still new to it (even after 4-5 months) and have never asked what kind. I take the class at LA fitness center. No, the room is not heated and yes, I too felt that it was way too intense at first. The thing is...I kept doing it and that is what has helped. I am extremely sensitive to cold but with yoga they teach you about how various motions start to increase your internal temp and thus warm you up. So, I know that my sensitivity will be temporary. It's like when you go swimming. The water is always sooooo cold at first but then you get use to it and it's warm. That's how it is with yoga. I start out cold, but then I'm so warm and at times I'm even sweating. Pushing through the first few classes is essential because it does not come natural to the body (I have been told by the instructors that it takes 4-5 classes before your body starts to adapt). The stretching and breathing really do help my muscles. I don't know about you but with my fibro sometimes my muscles just feel so overworked (for lack of a better word) from having done nothing and my spasms are even worse. Somehow it feels like oxygen gets into my muscles and I am able to relax even if it only is for a day. Try it and see how you feel.
