As if we aren't on the lookout for enough contaminants, now they are talking about contaminated spices!
Yuck!! Maybe they think they're gonna "treat" it anyway, so what's it matter. Gotta love the ethics of some people/businesses - Not!
I think every thing has some kind of contaminate and we just have to do the best we can. I grow a lot of my spices in a lovely little garden in my kitchen. I would love to add a green house to the side yard this year.
Makes you wonder if anything you eat is actually safe. Never looked at where my spices are manufactured, but will be trying to avoid any spices from India or Mexico. Purplebutterfly’s growing her own sounds like the way to go.
Since I grew up in the middle of a small orchard where they used DDT and various other insecticides In the orchards all around us, I expect my system is already very compromised and it’s a bit late to worry about it.
Yuck. Time to get back to growing my own herbs. Ty for posting
This is definatly interesting to me. I have a severe GI onion and garlic allergy. My daughter has a severe respiratory with basil, oregano, and who knows what else from that family of spices. They say a lot of food allergies are because the body confuses it with something else.
I grow many of my own herbs, but spices are grown in certain parts of the world not conducive to my climate! Just something else to watch out for!
