Protect yourself this Summer

Just to warn everyone about the new Mosquito-borne virus called:
Chikungunya.

  • Chikungunya is a viral disease transmitted by the bite of infected mosquitoes.
‎it’s spreading in the US now.
Please be careful. If infected you will be in hospital for weeks, and in a lot of pain. Like we need more pain.

Take care.

In your spice rack you can find marjoram & sweet basil, sprinkle some of them (1/8 to 1/4tsp) into your tea & the bugs won't bite you so much. I don't get bit.

I"ll try any thing I get eat up. Is this by the glass or the pitcher. I make gallon size sun tea daily, how much should I use in that?

Let's see......... 1/8tsp to 1/4tsp per 12oz cup, I also consume fresh ginger tea, 3 to 4 thinly sliced ginger root per 12oz cup.

Oh, it has been years since I made sun tea. Ummmmmm, maybe 3tsp of each marjoram & sweet basil per 1gal. Sweet basil tastes sweet, so you may want to try it in a small amount 1st & then go from there.

thanks for the tip.we already put fresh ginger in tea. i will add those other spices you mentioned

Hi Yindidav and welcome back! It's good to see you!

Thanks for this warning. I now believe that this stuff happens, after my sister got Lyme disease 2 summers ago. Before that, I never thought about insects and how they affect us. I don't understand why we have so many ugly, new illnesses from these pests, but we do.

I guess that some sort of mosquito repellant would be a good idea, huh?

thanks for letting us know! i don't think that any of us want to get it!

Garlic is another goodie that mosquitoes seem to HATE!

Thanks for your suggestions, Luna. I love tea anyway!
