Medical Marijuana

That link to the video that angel posted stated that though it may be legal in 18 states, it is still not Federally legal, so they continue to raid the storesand growers. Typical of the government!

I see you are Canadian also & Albertan (once lived there) seems to have slightly different laws than B.C.

We have Cannabis stores that offer anything from pot candy, pot oils, you name it but we have to get our

weed from a compassion club grower (mostly). I say 'mostly' b/c we are allowed to grow 3 plants for our own use but the Compassion growers have the hlth authority to grow many more plants. Trust me...it is loaded with THC. You are lucky to be able to get the lesser strength. I've not been able to obtain anything from our local hlth food stores (as of yet).

Well SK...'they' raid the stores & growers here too even though our provincial gov't has made it legal for medical purposes. As you say....Typical of the government. My humble opinion is if 'they' spent even 1/8 the time going after the multi number of liquor outlets as they do MM stores, we would be better off. Alcohol related vehichle accidents have sky-rocketed over the past several years.

So very sorry to hear of your bronchitis....it's a dastardly thing & soooo hard to get rid of. Eat lot of garlic...even though you will lose friends, it seems to get rid of the bronchitis faster. Jus sayin....!

I live in ON, Canada. I've tried it, I smoked it at bed time it helped the pain alot and bonus it put me to sleep! I asked my doc and instead she put me on Nabilone (synthetic marajuana) It does not work as well. I will keep checking and let you know :)

Shawna,

I'll be honest I smoke it every night. And it helps me :)

I’m freaking moving to Canada! I think I would like the synthetic kind though so I didn’t have to inhale.

While MBP is busy moving to Canada (LOL) I will tell you 'yes', you can get it

in pill form (RX) and there is also a spray. A young friend of mine with degenerative

disc disease takes 1 pill a day for his pain ($10.00 a pill). To me that seems awfully expensive when you can just use a vaporizer. Google - Magic-Flight.com and you can read all about it. I use this but also make cookies using pot (weed) butter which doesn't doesn't smell or taste like weed but 'does the job'

(just not as quickly as using the vaporizer or smoking it).

Geez...I sound like a pot-head but really I'm not at all...just another person who is willing to try darn near anything for relief of this dreaded FM.

Happy thoughts,

Geranium

There isn't enough THC in the synthetic kind for OUR kind of pain & insomnia. Read what Charlie has to say about the synthetic.

Trust me!

I was thinking I should put in a 'disclaimer' here because I don't want anyone to think I'm promoting or advocating 'use' of MM. However, I would rather use herbal remedies rather than percocet and other man-made opiates.

Hope I don't get into any trouble on this site with my input.

Hi Geranium, I am almost to Virginia on my way to Canada. LOL. I think it will be worth the pain and fatigue of the probably week long drive to be able to get some legal Marijuana. I will take it in any form I can get it. Ok, ok, JK. I’ll be the one in trouble now! LMAO

Well..better we both be in trouble than just me..haha. What is the closest state to you where it IS legal? Don't y'all have compassion clubs your way?

Looks like the closet state, or place, is actually Washington, D.C. Which is a good 15 hour drive from here. I am not sure what a compassion club means to you but when I googled it, I could not find any in alabama. It figures cuz I live in one of the backwoods, country place in the world. I think that Mississippi might have us beat. LOL

I know that when I smoked pot for the pain (and well for the pleasure) YEARS ago, it heightened my sense of pain. I felt everything more intensely than I ever had before. It was my conclusion that pot was not my friend with fibro.

I know in CA they are quite lenient with the medical marijuana. My cousins live out there as well as friends who have prescriptions for it but not nary a issue in sight for it. You'd think they'd take more precaution but how cautious can you be. Anyone can easily get it off the street so I guess they thought that by legalizing it for medical purposes that they can keep tabs on people. . .IDK it all seems so stupid.

I wonder if you were suffering from FM at that time...AND if it was several years ago I know (by experience) that it didn't have the amount of THC that is does now.

All I know is that I used my pot vaporizer last night and went 10 whole hours with no pain at all. I have a really bad back from botched back surgery, am post-polio (back & Rt hip affected), spinal stenosis then the FM on top of that. Let's toss in my battle with plantar fasciitis too. So you can well imagine that I am rarely EVER not in pain

I can only surmise that what will work for some ... won't for others.

I'm so sorry that this is not an option for you.

You don't have to smoke it or vaporize it (inhale it). You can infuse it into oil. Coconut oil is my favorite kind. If you google it, you'll come up with instructions.

Thanks, I will look into how to make coconut oil. I had switched from vap-ing it to

making 'butter' and baking cookies/brownies with it. Not such a good idea IF you need to lose weight

like me. How do you use the coconut oil if I may ask?

Hi Geranium,

I actually like the taste of coconut oil, so I just eat it by the spoonful. I haven't infused any yet, but that's the way I plan to use it. I also have made a coconut oil "candy" by adding cocoa powder and sweetener to coconut oil. It's a life saver when I'm in weight loss mode and have to have chocolate.

Hi Shawna, I have heard it is supposed to help with pain and have thought about it myself. I'm in Australia and it's very hard to find a dr who will prescribe it and then apparently I would have to drive about four hours to reach the fellow who is allowed to "legally" supply it. I think the drive would be worth it if it works! I definately couldn't smoke it as the smell makes me gag, soooo I've found a recipe online for Brownies with a "secret ingredient". Maybe one day I'll get brave. ;)

Hi Berrygus, I, like Shawna, live in Canada and am so glad it is now available for medical purposes. My Dr. prescribed it for me (without me asking) because my body cannot tolerate the usual meds given for the FM pain. I can tell you that it helps with both the pain and sleeping problems. I have other info for you if you would like to message me.

Cheers,

Geranium
