Odd question

Ok I have had some pretty bad pain in my tailbone. The only way I can explain the pain is its like the pain of a toothache. Sounds odd I know. Anyway, is this something to do with fibromyalgia?

I think so. Did you recently sit on a hard chair or in the car for a bumpy ride? It happens to me when I sit on a folding chair - hate those things! There are muscles and tendons down there that get irritated. Try a heating pad for intervals of 20 minutes and see if that helps. If it continues, you may want to talk to your doctor. hugs~ Sandi

Have you fallen lately? I have pain in my hip from arthritis and it is bad at times.

Thank you. And purplebutterfly, no I haven’t fallen.

I’m not sure about that. I have pain either side of it though sort of near top of each bum cheek. Sorry if too much info haha. Is it there or actually in the bony bit. I’ve never had pain there unless I fell on it. Maybe check with doc?

Sorry if that doesn’t help.

Thank you so much everyone. Jo it’s the actual bony part but I do have pain in the same bum region lol. I’ve had that for a long time though. This tailbone is new for me.

Hi Traci,

Yes, it could be but the only way you'll know is to see your doctor. Of course, doctors don't always know either! I do know that I have pain there that's like you describe. Mine is also in my sacral-illia joint. It seems to me that many (most) fibro-ites seem to experience bad lower back pain once fibro hits.

But please, do get checked. Back pain is no joke.

Those are your sacral illia joints, Jo, and they are killers when you get fibro! I think they're also tenderpoints. And man, does it look WEIRD to be rubbing that area for relief when you're out in public and forget that not everyone hurts there, lol!

I think tail bone pain is some of the worst. I have it too but my lower spine is where the worst of my arthritis is also so I never know what the pain is from exactly. It seems to radiate into my hips also and I can’t seem to find a comfortable spot when I am sitting.

Hi Traci!

Good question for a Rheumatologist, or the Doctor currently taking care of you. Please don't second guess bone pain, ask for an x-ray!

Wishing you well,

SK

I had this a few years ago after horseback riding. Took me a while to figure out it wasn't going to just go away on its own and to ask my chiropractor for help. It took several tries before the treatment finally "took" but it hasn't bothered me for a while.

Omg you’re so right there. That’s what’s hurting the most the last couple of days. I’ve had few looks too lol. And the bits under the bum too haha. Looks like I need the bathroom!

Well now I know I don’t hurt “everywhere”. Cor that has got to suck on top!

Any news Traci?

I did not go to the doctor : \ But the pain is gone Thank you for asking.

That’s good to hear. I’m glad you’re feeling a bit better

Ok I’m so sorry that was a fibro moment. I didn’t go to the doctor but I did call an they gave me Tylenol 3. The more I think about it I was doing a lot of studying and I think it was the chair I was sitting in. Thank you
