I just got a letter from SSD stating that I have an appointment for them to help determine eligibility. I found it strange that the appointment is with a psychologist instead of a medical doctor. Is this common? Has anyone else had one with a psychologist?
I see a therapist every two weeks and just saw a pain psychologist this past Thursday and he feels he could help me with hypnosis if my mind is able to accept it. I’m willing to try anything at this point. This winter in Wisconsin - Worst EVER!!!
A friend of mine had to go see a psychologist. She saw a therapist on a regular bases and got her disability approved for severe depression instead of what she had applied for.
I APPLIED FOR AND WAS APPROVED FOR SSD.MY DISABILITY ATTORNEY SUGGESTED IT WOULD BE A GOOD IDEA.I WENT AND TSLKED TO HER.SHE WAS VERY NICE.I WAS ASKED A LOT OF QUESTIONS AND TESTS.WHILE I WAS DOING THAT MY 2 SISTERS FILLED OUT PAPERS.IT WAS GROUP EFFORT INCLUDING HER BUT I WON.IF IT HELPED ME ITLL HELP YOU.I WISH YOU THE BEST IF LUCK LET ME KNOW WHAT HAPPENS.I SAW HER IN THE SUMMER OF 2012.MY ALJ HEARING WAS IN JUNE 19 2013. I WAS APPROVED 1 MONTH LATER.GOOD LUCK IF YOU HAVE MIRE QUESTIONS JUSTBASK.WHAT STATE DO YOU LIVE IN.I LIVE IN IOWA IT MAY NOT TSKE AS LONG AS ME.IT JUST DEPENDS ON WHATE STATE AS HOW LONT ITLL TSKE.YOUR DISABILITY ATOORNEY WILL KNOW THE ANSWER.
Thanks everyone! It did say to bring someone with me who knows of my condition. I live in Wisconsin and was required by my LTD insurance to apply for SSD. All the paperwork and application was filed mid September and I had a phone interview the day after it was submitted by the local SS office.
I’m planning on bringing my daughter with, as she notices the differences in the “new me” and wants the old me back as much as I do. I just thought it odd that a psychologist would be the doctor to see. Maybe all the doctors notes that I don’t see refer to the sleep and depressed feeling related to lack of sleep and constant pain for so long. I’ll sure let you know what happens at the appt.
