Tired...Bloated...Falling Apart

I am so tired of being tired. It's as if my body knows when I have had 21/2 hours of sleep. Than it is like ok Robin get up.Every morning this happens and I would give anything for just a few more hours of sleep and to top it off. all I;m doing now is sweating... Only my neck and up but this is horrible and I have no clue why. Just feel like I'm falling apart :( Have any of you been bloated and had alot of gas? This is something new to me and I was wondering if I need to go see another Dr.I gone off lately because of this. Lets see next, my hair is so thick now it looks bad unless I spend an hour on it but Im so tired I just braid it. Then to top it all off I keep growing out of my clothes and refuse to buy more now because I just keep gaining lol and boy do I ever look frumpy...I think I am just having one of those days. Hope you all have a better day... Hugs, Robin

Sorry Robin. It's hard not to have one of those days when you've had no sleep. :( Insomnia is awful.

I do have tummy issues. Some are caused by my meds and I think some are disease related. Maybe talk to your primary doc and see what he recommends.

My hair is thick too, and curly - I keep it short. The longer it is, the harder it is for me to do anything with. Most days, I throw on a head band and let it air dry. Blow drying and straightening is hard on my arms.

I've gained a lot of weight too, and haven't bought new clothes in quite a while. It sucks. I am trying hard this year to eat better, to try to be more active and see if I can't lose some. I feel like I am in someone else's body and I don't like it one bit.

I hope your day improves. If not, then I hope tomorrow is better for you.

Thank you Red, and my day is better my new grand daughter came at 7 so Im pretty happy now. I can agree with everything you said but the feeling like your in someone else's body is the truth. I never even weighed this much pregnant..I hope you have a good day, Hugs Robin

HI Robin,

Of course everyone knows that I'm not a Dr, but will share my thoughts as far as personal experience.

First of all as we get older our body produces much less digestive acid to process our food, and stupidly we take otc meds that remove the acid, so then we have NONE. When I lost my gall bladder, my Chiropractor game me these to take, they help to break down all food groups, along with daily probiotics, this gets rid of the bloating.

It's all natural and plant based. There are similar products available at health food stores, but I have found no better in 10 years or more of taking them. Ox bile is another product, but I prefer the Spectrazyme, it will change your life. Just check with dr!

Hope this helps,

SK

Heya, Robin,

I, too, have bloating and "gas issues." It can be really stressing and embarrassing at times. I have also recently started the same sweating thing you talked about. First thing I thought was hormonal probs, but now I don't know for sure. I am talking about my neck and hair is drenched. Weight gain has also started. I used to be a tiny thing, but now I have curves and lumps in places I wish I didn't. Sleeping? Well, that is nonexistent! Now, this thick hair thing..I wish I had. My hair has always been very fine and thin.

Robin, I can totally relate to everything in your post. Most mornings (after meds have kicked in) I think "This fibro stuff isn't so bad." That's until the meds start wearing off, and then I feel like death. I get angry because my legs don't want to work properly. I am wobbling all over the place. I have no energy to do anything. I have so much to do, but no energy to get it done. A lot of times, my legs just feel rubbery. It's hard to explain. And, the pain is excruciating! Just remember...we all feel the somewhat the same way you do, and we are here to support you!

HUGS!

Susan

Thanks so much Susan, You know these sweats are horrible, I have to keep my hair in a ponytail... Hope you have a good day, Hugs

My dr gave me Nuvigil, small dose but it helps me stay awake during the day. At night I take all the meds that make you drowsy (almost all of them) plus Melatonin. The combination helps me sleep well and while I wake up tired, about 1/2 after taking my morning meds, including the Nuvigil, I am ready to go. I have to pace myself.

Don't try to do too much at once. Sweating, what I call head sweating is normal. I use a headband when I know I will be doing something that causes sweating, like vacumning or even walking around the supermarket.

As to the gas, I find that Activia actually works, Jamie Lee Curtis found a good product. I put some cereal in a bowl with it and that is breakfast. Avoid heavy foods at night and get to know what foods cause gas. Keep a food diary. I cannot eat garlic, onion, spicy food, acidic foods, and anything that tastes good (giggle). It might be milk products for you or gluten products which is common for us. I tolerate gluten thankfully cause my irritable bowel calms down with pasta and bread,

Dear Robin

I can adentify with what you have detailed in your posting........the bloating, the rank gas, the sweating and the weight gain.

I am going to look into the product that Susan has recommended.

Oh, I have had such days. One day everything's, well, at least survivable. Then a whopper bad one hits. I get tired of being tired, and have trouble sitting still. My brain wants to move even when my body crashes. Both, however, add to my total fatigue. When I have days like this, with no sleep, I put on smooth meditative music and let myself go to sleep. It's necessary. I have had the head sweats, and they are usually after I've eaten for some reason. FM is a central neural disorder, so the "boss" (brain) does what it wants. I do find keeping my food intake small and evenly spaced seems to help. I did gain weight on one med, and even looked pregnant! The med was changed and I lost the weight. We need to question the side effects of our meds, and decide if they are worth it. I do get the bloat & gas anyway, but not as bad as when I was on the first med. I just take simethicone to help with the gas. For the bloat, I find that the bloat decreases if I take a probiotic such as Pearls IC (there are many good brands out there). I also have begun lowering my gluten, though I do not eat gluten free. None of this is just you - we all have these symptoms at one point or another. FM does what it wants. I hope these solutions are of some help. I often feel frumpy, too. I started buying black yoga pants and that helped. With slip-ons, they're dressy. With sneakers or slippers, they're casual. A few different, but comfortable tops also dress them up or down. I wear the yoga pants to bed, for errands, and even for church. I also find that I am wearing makeup again, just to feel pretty. I have post-cancer hair, so I can't say if it's thicker, but I did try to get a body perm and now I can mimic Einstein. Thank God for wigs! My daughter has very thick hair, and a professional hairdresser thins it so it is lighter weight. When it gets too long it gives her a headache - and she doesn't even have FM!

Hugs,

Susan (Scribelle)

Thanks so much Linda, I may have to try the Activia...Have a good night. Hugs Robin

I am too Rachel, We have nothing to loose so Ill try anything. Hope you have a good night, Hugs Robin

All of those yes. I just went to Aeropostale and bought the largest size they sell. All I wear is sweats. I wear them in the summer also because I freeze.

Get checked because I had gall bladder surgery which caused terrible gas. I also had ulcerative colitis which causes a lot of these symptoms as well. Go to the dr.

Take care Robin.

Thank you so much Susan. The tips on the yoga pants sounds perfect lol. All my meds make me gain weight boo but Ill get it under control one day. Hugs coming your way, Robin

The problem with the meds that are appropriate for us to use all have side effects of gaining weight. One of the worst is Cymbalta as it says you can gain 25 th 30 pounds!!! And I did!! But in consideration, it does help with my fibro pain so I will accept the weight gain because I need the help with pain.

As Linda mentioned there are other products on the market........like Activia so I think I will check them out.

My doctor is pretty skeptical about herbal supplements.

Thanks Rachel, and btw I gained over 40lbs I was a tiny little thing before 103lbs and I have gained even more and I havent accepted it yet, Im having a hard time still. Hugs Robin

Thanks Tricky, What type of Dr did you go too? I plan on going just need to go to the right doc, Hugs Robin

Robin,

Yes, please do see a doctor for the bloating and gas. It could be something wrong. I had both symptoms and come to find out I had an ulcer that had been making my life miserable.

I can really relate to your weight gain issue. It's bugging me that I'm so heavy now but I'm EXHAUSTED after work and can't move, let alone do exercise. There should be a list of words staring with the letter "f" that belong to fibro:

Fibro

Fat

Flatulent

Frumpy

Frustrated

Feel free to add more to the list.

PS: I went to my GP, who referred me to a doc who did an upper endoscopy. Sure, let me try and remember the type of doctor...nope, brain isn't working right now.

A gastroenterology (GI) doc.

Gastroenterologist, or GI doctor. ;)

Best to check with your primary first, to get his/her recommendation on who to see (and a referral, if your insurance requires it).

Thanks Petunia, My F word is Fluffy haha my new nickname from hubby.
