From the FDA:

Qualitest Issues Voluntary, Nationwide Recall of 101 Lots of Hydrocodone Bitartrate and Acetaminophen Tablets, Usp 10 Mg/500 Mg Due to the Potential for Oversized Tablets

Bottles from the affected lots may contain tablets that have a higher dosage of acetaminophen, and as a result, it is possible that consumers could take more than the intended acetaminophen dose. Unintentional administration of tablets with increased acetaminophen content could result in liver toxicity, especially in patients on other acetaminophen containing medications, patients with liver dysfunction, or people who consume more than 3 alcoholic beverages a day. The product label warns consumers that acetaminophen overdose can potentially cause severe liver damage, at times resulting in liver transplant or death.

I was on 5/500 for years - I have always had to refill every month and my doctor would give me only certain amount and would always tell me to take no more than 3000 of tylenol in 24 hrs. . . Two months ago he changed my prescription to 5-325! He just told me it was safer. . . I have always been careful with pain medicine! Take care - love you all - Irma

Oh, jolly! I'm glad that you got this info over to us, Renie. I'm sure that it will affect some on here. I'm shaking my head, wondering why the FDA seems to have such a difficult time policing, well, food and drugs anymore.

thanks for letting us know. i havent taken vicoden in a long time i have been being perscribed narco instead. i am glad to know so i can pass it on to others i know.

narco is type of Vicodin. Just in case you were not aware...i know my niece did not realize it.

With this specific recall you might need to call your pharmacy and see if that is the type of Vicodin they bought in bulk. But if you click on it, than entire page about it pops up and explains it fully. How to check if yours is one of the recalls etc.

On this link i gave, there are more drugs and medical items as well as human food to bird food.

More than once i have found drugs that my parents use or friends i know. Nothing was in the news. Yet like Vicodin, they also were extremely commonly used drugs.
