Hi there I’m Michele have been a member for a long while but haven’t posted in quite some time. I have been managing on my own but now have new things going on.
Does anyone experience alot of weakness in their legs and when I walk any distance outside I tend to be off balance like I have been drinking. I also have this issue with the colour of my legs any chill I get my skin turns purple I have had it for years with no answers to why I am really self conscious of it. I am awaiting an appt with a new rheumatologist for a second opinion as the one I have presently seems to pile all my issues into one category. After getting blood work done to go with the referral my family dr told me it came back positive for connective tissue autoimmune disease but negative for the RA factor. So Im wondering if my symptoms are connected with my Fibro my mild to moderate spinal stenosis or some new autoimmune disease diagnosis. Any input would be great thanks so much
I have had leg weakness for years and also stagger around like drunk, especially if I am trying to walk slow. At least it is more obvious when I walk slow. If I squat down I can’t get up, I have to get on my knees and crawl to something to hold onto to get up or put one foot under me and lean on my hands to stand. Stairs are hard for me but I do them.
I have been told in the past I had RA but two rheumatologists since then have tested me and said I don’t show any symptoms of RA but do test positive for RA factor and I believe several other people with fibro I have talked to also test positive but aren’t symptomatic and so I think that it is just related to my fibro.
Good luck with the new Dr and hope you get some answers
Yes! I have subjective weakness in my legs and also get off balance and stagger. I run into people when we’re walking close together. I have been diagnosed with fibromyalgia since 1994, though only developed the leg weakness and balance problems about ten years ago. The problem has not become better or worse over time,
I had 2 back surgeries and I still have weakness in my legs and I also have balance issues. If I have to walk far, I use a walker because of this and lower back pain. I am going for a second opinion on my back next week and I am trying to find a Dr. who can diagnose and treat fibro. I’m on lyrica but I’m not sure it’s helping. I don’t have the problem of my legs getting purple.
I too experience weakness and heaviness in my arms and legs. As well as vertigo and poor balance (plus several other symptoms).I have fibromyalgia and ME/CFS. I was told it was a symptom of ME/CFS.
